Deliverable D6.2 WP06 – NA06 – EFINION Workshop on “ENSAR Applications – Oriented Research” The EFINION workshop was held on 9-11 July 2014 in Vrachati, Corinth, Greece. This workshop was dedicated to the applications developed in the ENSAR partner laboratories, especially the institutions with infrastructures offering TransNational Access for users. The programme, displayed in the following page, was then focused on presentations from representatives of GANIL (France), GSI (Germany), JYFL (JYU, Finland), KVI-CART (RUG, The Netherlands), ISOLDE (CERN, Switzerland), and ALTO (CNRS, France). In addition, specific presentations were scheduled on applications at IFJ PAN (Poland) and future ELI-NP (Romania), and also on electronics developments at CEA (France). Moreover, the EFINION workshop was the occasion to present the status of EFINION activities, i.e. the catalogue of multi-disciplinary applications-oriented research activities of ENSAR, the Communication Day at the European Parliament, and the preparation of future activities beyond ENSAR. Aside from the recognition that Greece is one of Europe’s leading and safest tourism destination, the other main contributing factors related to the new entry of internationally recognized operators and the sustained retrofitting and upgrading of existing hospitality assets, coupled with investments in the improvement of specific transport infrastructure. The renewed efforts in the active management of the sector’s non-performing loans (NPLs) also contributed to the movement in the hospitality property sector. At the same time, the hospitality sector continues to be affected by domestic challenges and international macroeconomic developments. In Greece, such challenges refer to the economic stability and growth prospects, the outstanding high ratio of the sector’s NPLs, the immigration issue in certain islands and the volatile tax framework. We also expect certain international developments to affect arrivals and related income from tourism. The Brexit negotiations outcome is one of them, whilst any further devaluation of Turkish lira could intensify competition. Other non-European markets (like Egypt, Morocco and Tunisia) in the Mediterranean market could also attract tourists and related investment capital as their situation stabilizes further and new hotel projects come to the market. Konstantina Mexia1 1 University of Patras, Department of Geology, [email protected] Key words: Asopos, Nemeas, Retrogressive erosion, Reversal, Archaeological sites ABSTRACT The object of the present paper is to study the flow of river systems Asopos and Nemeas- which are in the wider area of the Nemea archaeological site - in order to understand how the evolution of these rivers in time affected the whole area. The study area is a section of the NE part of the Peloponnese, specifically the zone between the villages of Velo and Vrachati. In order to access our goal aerial photographs and GIS analysis were used. The geomorphological and tectonic analysis of the area and the development and evolution of settlements therein (based on archaeological studies) gave us clues about the shape of the terrain over time. The main factors affecting the shape of the terrain (intense tectonic activity and retrogressive erosion) were not adequate reasons - in our case - to effect immediate abandonment of the area (since they are fairly slow processes – in the human timescale). Their effect, however, is evident over time, in the form of gradual abandonment of sites, movement of settlements or the creation of new settlements. INTRODUCTION - METHODOLOGY The study area is located in the northeastern part of the Peloponnese, between the villages of Velo and Vrahati, in the prefecture of Corinthia. It is bounded west of the watershed of the basin of Asopos river, east of the watershed of the basin of the Nemeas river, north of the Corinthian Gulf and south by the mountains Xerovouni, Megalovouni and Tritos.

Municipality of Velo-Vocha EUROPEAN VOLUNTARY SERVICE (EVS) Municipality of Velo-Vocha (host organization) LET’S PLAY TOGETHER IN THE KINDERGARTENS OF VELO-VOCHA The Kindergarten program in the municipality Velo-Vocha includes three different kindergartens, the kindergarten of Velo, the kindergarten of Zevgolatio and the one in Vrahati. Velo, Zevgolatio and Vrahati are three small towns situated approximately one hour and a half from Athens. The EVS duration is six months (depending on the agreement). The kindergartens of the Municipality of Velo-Vocha host children in between 2- 5 years old. The volunteers are expected to help in the everyday work of the kindergarten. The aims of the project are the introduction of new activities taken by the volunteers for the daily life of the children, the promotion and contact of new cultures and the development of the artistic abilities of the children by helping the teachers in the kindergarten in their activities. Volunteer’s activities: The activities will include helping the children in the fine-art workshop, in painting lessons, in theatrical workshop; playing games with the children; participating in outdoor activities like sport events. The volunteers will participate in the work of the youth information office of Xylokastro for example helping in the preparation of the eMagazine. The volunteers, who will work in the kindergarten of Velo will also help in the Youth Centre of Velo and organise his/her own small project depending on his/her skills and ideas (e.g. music, handicraft, theatre, games etc). ACCOMMODATION Lodging: The volunteers will live in an apartment (orfeasEVShome) in Xylokastro together with a group of long-term volunteers.

In the EU’s 6 th FP BRIDGE project ‘‘Background cRiteria for the IDentification of Groundwater thrEsholds’’, a methodology for the derivation of threshold values (TV) for groundwater bodies is proposed. Threshold values are quality standards for polluting substances in groundwater that need to be formulated by the Mem- ber States for the status assessment of groundwater bodies. These values represent the concentra- tion of a pollutant that cannot be exceeded in order to protect both the environment and human health. The proposed method derives groundwater threshold values based on environmental objec- tives for groundwater ”itself” as a receptor, using relevant reference criteria such as natural background levels, drinking and irrigation water standards. This methodology is tested on seven districts in Greece (two of them are analyzed in this paper).
