URGENT - T400 Aristotle Lane - Mr Salisbury complaint(s)

Hi

Yes, it was me phoning this morning - I got your voice mail.

Can you please just confirm/clarify a couple of things for me, regarding these works.

1. ACCESS TO TRAP GROUND ALLOTMENTS

Is the road, on the East side of the footbridge on the Aristotle Lane that leads to the eastern side of the level crossing, going to remain open to maintain access for vehicles and pedestrians to the Allotments during the period of the works? See circled area below:

2. DIVERSION ROUTE When you gave your diversion on the application form you only mentioned the route Aristotle Lane (BOAT 320/13 and Public Bridleway 320/12), Plater Drive, Rutherway, but didn’t follow this logically through North to the West side of the footbridge and back onto the Public Bridleway 320/12.

As the BOAT and Bridleway you are closing are for pedestrian, cyclists and potentially horse riders you need to provide a suitable route for these users.

I added footpath 320/07 with the instruction that cyclist must dismount but forgot about horse riders! Subsequently I realised that the footpath would be unsuitable because of a kissing gate but that most pedestrians, cyclists and horse riders would use the route controlled by City Council to get back to Public Bridleway 320/12 (see map below)

Unfortunately, although this would be the most logical route, we (Oxfordshire County Council) do not have the right or permission to include it in a diversion or suggested alternative route.

Cllr Susanna Pressel advised me that this route is part of Port Meadow and therefore under the joint ownership of Oxford City Council and the Freemen of Oxford.

ACTION: We need to know if you have gained permission from Oxford City Council and the Freemen of Oxford to allow this route to be included within the diversion as a “permissive route” over private land.

Unfortunately, the alternative route, going North via roads to and then South on Public Bridleway 320/11 then to join 302/12, is unsuitable because of the general condition of the ground (muddy during the winter).
