Imperfect I grew up in a Christian home, and accepted Christ into my life in DiscoveryLand children's ministry at FAC. Growing up I found it difficult to share my faith, making me feel less than other Christians around me. This feeling also made it difficult to be in an intimate relationship with God – I struggled to understand how someone perfect would sacrifice His own life for someone imperfect, and how He could love an imperfect person like me. I attended Legacy Youth Conference (LYC) in grade 12 and it was then that I started to understand His unconditional love for us – for me. The theme was “Inside Out” and we sang the song by Hillsong all weekend. During this song I felt God’s presence and voice washing over me, telling me that while I am imperfect, I am His, and He made me the way He wanted – no mistakes. 1 Timothy 4:12 reads, “Do not let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith, and in purity.” Jeremiah 31:3 reads, “I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with lovingkindness. I will build you up again and you will be rebuilt.” I’ve been brought back to these verses over and over again. They remind me we are all unique and special to God; His love is never-ending and He doesn’t compare us to those around us. We sin and fall short of Him, who is perfect, but still He loves us endlessly. I know I am imperfect, but I am loved by Someone who is perfect. Tamara Wong was one of 24 people who took the next step of baptism last weekend – one of 85 in 2017! Let’s celebrate the work God is doing in their lives!
