Thursday 28th February 2019 visit to Memorial Museum TN16 3EJ Newly opened in 2019 on the site of St George’s RAF Chapel of Remembrance at Biggin Hill. The museum tells the story of the famous fighter station through the personal experience of those who served and the local community that supported them. Two hours is recommended for the visit – Exhibition 1hr; RAF Chapel 30mins and Gardens 30mins. Advertised prices (without gift aid) are adult £7.50; child £4 and under 5s free. Bus 246 goes direct from Croydon Road to the Museum. Meet at 10:05hrs to catch the 10:15 bus towards Biggin Hill at the bus stop on the opposite side of the Croydon Road to SJs. (Almost opposite the fish and chip shop on the parade of shops.) There will be an option for a light lunch at somewhere like the Biggin Hill Airport café afterwards if people want to do so.

Thursday 7th March 2019 Hand Massage at SJs 56 Croydon Road This will be straight after the Sewing Bee group so please meet for 3pm at SJs 56 Croydon Road Coney Hall. Gerry Knight (who is also a SPA in Croydon area and uses this as part of her Christian practice) will be giving a talk and demonstrations from 3-4pm. Please bring along any oils or lotions of your own that you would like to use. No charge but a donation to a charity on the day if you wish. Teas and coffee available.

Saturday 9th March 2019 visit Place Roof Garden at Cross Rail Place Canary Wharf E14 5AB The Crossrail Place 300 metre enclosed Roof Garden is described as ‘a tropical oasis beneath a distinctive timber and latticed roof.’ It sits above the meridian line and the planting is arranged according to which hemisphere the plants originated. The Roof Garden includes a street food market and a performance area. Access is free. Please bring along a packed lunch to enjoy at the gardens or you may want to try the street food on offer. Please meet at Hayes railway station by 09:50 to catch the 10am train to London Bridge then the to Canary Wharf.

Monday 11th March 2019 - Mosaic Group - Planning Meeting for future activities If you are free and would like to contribute, there is a planning meeting on Monday 11th March 2019 at 1pm with soup lunch at 44 Coney Hill Road . Wednesday 20th March 2019 – Community Lunch at Coney Hill Baptist Church 25 Coney Hill Road BR4 9BU Enjoy a delicious hot meal prepared by the cooks at Coney Hill Baptist Church. This monthly event for anyone who would like to share in a friendly meal is a new initiative to help serve all ages in the local community in the newly refurbished premises. Meal is at 12:30hrs so if you would like to enter as part of a group, please be in front of the church by 12:25hrs. There is no charge but a donation towards the cost of the meal would be appreciated on the day.

Saturday 23rd March 2019 - ‘Rock Choir’ charity concert 7:30 -9:30pm St Mildred’s Church Addiscombe 30 Bingham Road Croydon CR0 7EB A concert of contemporary and popular pop songs by a community choir whose performances are both really musical and good fun. St Mildred’s is on the 119 Bus route. Tickets are £5 per adult. Please contact Christine Keay on 07906019077 to book tickets and for more information.

Friday 5th April 2019 - John Ruskin ‘The Power of Seeing’ exhibition at 2 Temple Place London WC2R 3BD Previously known as Astor House, the beautiful House of Temple Place has been identified as ‘one of London’s architectural gems’. The neo-Gothic house and its collection is only open to view when it houses exhibitions during the year. The current exhibition is based around John Ruskin and the artists and works associated with him and his contemporaries. Advertised admission is free. Temple Place is 1 min walk from Temple tube or 12-15mins walk from Charing Cross Station. Please meet by 09:50hrs in order to catch the 10am train to Charing Cross from Hayes Station. Bring a packed lunch and we will try to find a place nearby or a café for those who prefer.

Sunday 7th April 2019 - Croydon Airport Visitor Centre at Airport House Purley Way Croydon CR0 0XZ. This is a volunteer led, micro museum located in the world’s oldest Air Traffic Control Tower at the old London Airport site. Only open the first Sunday of each month from 11am to 4pm. An award winning museum featuring interactive displays, exhibits and images charting its history from a WW1 airfield through International Airport and Battle of Britain centre, then finally closing in 1959. Entry is free. Donations gratefully received. Guided tours available on day of visit free of charge. Bus 119 stops at the Collonades opposite Airport House. Meet at SJ’s 56 Croydon Road Coney Hall at 1pm so we can walk to the bus stop in Addington Road to catch the 119 to the airport.

We have a Sewing Bee.! We meet on 1st and 3rd Thursdays of each month at SJs 56 Croydon Road 12:30 -3pm ish. Bring your lunch along and we get started properly around 1pm. We have begun a project to make a hanging for the church and are planning to run support sessions for people who want to learn to use a needle or develop their skills. Everyone welcome to the Sewing Bee group, you do not need to be an expert. We would love to see you..
