2. Reason for the Report
This report is being submitted to inform the committee of the quality monitoring of the member practices within both Castle Point & Rochford CCG and Southend CCG. NHSE continue to monitor the complaints regarding GP member practices however, an overview has been brought to the committee.
This paper highlights the updates regarding CQC, Friends and Family Test Data, Complaints; SI’s raised via the CCG, EU GP recruitment and Flu Vaccination Uptake data as published by PHE.

2.0 SI’s Castle Point and Rochford CCG For the months of November and December there has not been any new SI’s raised to the CCG.
Southend CCG For the months of November and December there has not been any Serious Incidents raised to the CCG.
3.0 Complaints All formal complaints and informal concerns regarding GP member practices are managed by NHS England (NHSE).
The current complaint data was reported at the last committee.

November’s data is not due for publication until the 10th January and therefore wasn’t available at the time of writing this paper.

For the month of October 17/23 practices returned a response to NHSE. Of the 17 practices 11 scored over 85% when asked if they would recommend the practice to family and friends.

Castle Point and Rochford CCG
There are 3 practices within CPR that are part of the scheme, with the candidate’s progress outlined below:
There is 1 candidate that is now on the performers list with no conditions and therefore has completed the scheme. There is 1 candidate that has passed the simulated surgery and has been accepted onto the medical performers list with conditions, therefore entering the IRS phase of the programme. A 3rd candidate has been accepted and is due to start at the Hollies on the 9th January 2019.
Southend CCG
There are currently:
One candidate passed the simulated surgery and is awaiting confirmation that they have been accepted onto the medical performers list with conditions.
6.0 FLU uptake
Flu immunisation is one of the most effective interventions that can be provided to reduce harm from Flu and pressures on the Health and Social Care services during the winter period.
To date the data published by Public Health England has been at CCG level reporting, with the provisional data available from 1st September 2018 up until the 30th November 2018 currently outlined as below.

Data relating to Health and Social Care workers has not been published. The practices continue to recall patients that have not yet received the Flu vaccination. The CCG’s are also liaising with the care homes within the area to ensure that staff are aware of where they can attend for vaccination.
The Chief Medical Officer has now released information, advising practices that antivirals are now to be prescribed, this is due to surveillance data indicating that Influenza cases are having an impact within the community.
7.0 Quality Visits
During the months of November and December Quality Visits were undertaken jointly by the Quality and Primary Care Teams.
The Practices visited were: William Harvey Surgery (Castle Point and Rochford CCG) and Dr Bekas (Southend CCG).

Conclusion and recommendation The committee has been asked to note the contents of the report in order to remain up to date with all quality driven aspects within primary care. This is to enable the committee to be assured that the CCG’s are monitoring all of the available data and offering support to practices that may require/ ask for it. The committee should note that the following recommendations have emerged: The Quality Team will continue to encourage practices to return friends and family test data The Quality Team will continue to support practices as required The Lead Nurse for Primary Care will continue to attend all practice alongside the primary care team in order to obtain clarity in any quality issues relating to the contract. The Flu vaccine uptake will continue to monitored and reported monthly. Recommendations made will be in line with the CCG Flu plan 2018/19 GP bulletin to include information on how practices can activate IPlato to record Friends and Family Test Data.
