T3 Goaltending Development Program T3 Goaltending is a first of its kind Russian-American goaltending development program based on the systems originally created by Anatoliy Tarasov and Nikolai Puchkov. T3’s main focus is on establishing a proper foundation for long-term development. Russian and Finnish hockey goaltender training is different from the North American methods. It is very methodical and set up to translate athletic talent into a fundamentally sound, multidimensional approach to the game. Another primary focus is to develop the goaltenders mentally to help each goaltender face all of the challenges the position presents. With its very visual multi-station approach, T3 leverages statistical monitoring and analysis of every goaltender’s performance. Original formulas of old have been simplified and converted to the modern day electronic formats (Apple, Android, etc.). T3 goalies currently play all levels of hockey from squirts to pros in Michigan, New York, Florida, Georgia, Minnesota, Massachusetts, North Dakota, Texas, Tennessee, North Carolina, and Virginia. T3 clinics include ice time with average of 6 or more stations, dry land stretching and exercises before and after ice, as well as individual evaluations with goalies and parents. During T3 clinics, T3 goalies and parents are encouraged to get properly fitted and try the new gear from our sponsors, Vaughn Goaltending and Wall Masks. A global database and website for all test results was supported by video-based test instructions. More than 500 tool kits with shooter tutors had been shipped to the IIHF Member National Associations and the initiative counted more than 4000 participants globally. The IIHF Skills Challenge in Korea 30 IIHF member national associations organized the Skills Challenge tests to determine their most skilled male and female youth ice hockey player. The best players of each participating IIHF member national association were invited to the 2008 IIHF Skills Challenge on the weekend from 2 to 4 May 2008 in Quebec City.

This was particularly the case in 1988, when John and Lyn Erickson from Fargo purchased the International Hockey School in Detroit Lakes. A couple of years later, John used his friendship with Fargo’s Scott Bye, a financial adviser for NHLers, to meet Blackhawks goalie Ed Belfour, who had been working with Vladislav Tretiak, a part-time goalie coach in Chicago, and Belfour told Erickson that he might be able to hire the Russian legend as the star attraction for his goalie camp in Detroit Lakes. And in June 1991, Tretiak and his wife, Tatiana, were staying at the Fairyland Cottages (modeled after those seen in the film “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs”) on the northern shore of Detroit Lake, and getting ready for his first day at the Minnesota camp. Bill Manuel, a former goalie at Wisconsin-Stout and Lyn Erickson’s brother, recalls the first meeting when Tretiak relayed his message through Anna Goruven, his business agent and interpreter, and then agreed to take questions from campers. “We had five or six goalie instructors and had been saying, ‘OK, who is going to be the first to ask?’?” Manuel said. “Meaning, who among us was going to be the first to ask Tretiak about getting pulled as the Soviet goalie in the loss to the U.S.

This can be said about the 1980 Olympic hockey game between the Soviet Union and the United States. This event, which Al Michaels and many others today refer to as a miracle, is considered to be one of, if not the greatest upset in sports history. Occurring about eleven years prior to the complete fall of the Soviet Union, this victory was more than just a hockey victory, it was a victory for America. This win helped bring back hope into the hearts of the Americans, which they were lacking during the 1970s.
