At its last meeting, the commission voted 4-0 to move forward with attempting to sell two county-owned lots at Keaton Beach, instructing staff to secure quotes for surveys and title searches on the properties. The board will also continue several discussions that have spanned a number of workshops over the past several months, including sea walls at Keaton Beach, as well as the county’s business tax license and mud bog ordinances. As for mud bogs, the question revolves around a request from property owner John Knight for the commission to consider making a change to the ordinance to make it easier to hold smaller-scale events. County Administrator LaWanda Pemberton will discuss with the board the fact that the county has received written notice from the City of Perry of the city’s intent to discontinue participation in the recreation interlocal agreement. The Perry City Council had previously considered discontinuing the interlocal agreement in 2019, but did not follow through. Under the agreement, the county and city share the costs of running the recreation program based on the percentage of participating city and county youth. Pemberton will then discuss informational items and county operations. The public will then have an opportunity to make comments or bring concerns regarding items that were not on the meeting agenda. After each commissioner gets a chance to discuss any informational items of their own, the meeting will be adjourned. The meeting is set to begin at 6 p.m. at the Taylor County Administrative Complex, located at 201 E. Green St. While in-person attendance will be limited due to COVID-19 concerns, the meeting will be live- streamed on Facebook, in addition to a conference call line that will allow the public to listen in and comment on the agenda items. The conference line is 1 (917) 900-1022 (access code: 32347#). Those wishing to speak during the meeting are asked to dial *5.
