Bounce yourself back into reality. Sit down. Take rest. Regroup. Your dream is not lost. Refurbish yourself and prepare for the next round. Tell yourself regenerative thoughts, encouraging thoughts that reinforce your mission. Recharge. Rest…rethink…recapture your thoughts…focus on your plan. Reevaluate your plan and mission so you don’t lose sight of what it is. Never, but never, give up. Seek support. You might ask the question, “What am I fighting against?” You might be fighting against your own self defeating thoughts. You are the first processor of your own thoughts and can be your own worst enemy. Let’s look at some tactics of the enemy real or imagined. 1. An enemy may come with predisposed thoughts of defeat of another person bearing unresearched information with no basis in facts. 2. A pre- sumptuous attitude, one coming to you with a made up mind to convince you with sometimes only a few sly words of why your mission or concept cannot come to pass and the person is prejudiced and biased against your belief equipped with a hard head COURTESY OF DARRALYNN HUTSON and a mind that can see no further than the physical, and see no spiritual benefit. 3. A person may come to you with so called insurmountable reasons of why your idea is not a good one and able to convince you that you cannot succeed. [email protected] Although studies show most resolutions to hit the gym or break a bad habit fall short by the time February rolls around, there’s one resolution that can be fulfilled at any time throughout the year: resolving to be there for your family during the moments that matter. Thanks to California’s Paid Family Leave (PFL) program, eligible Californians Today’s Fresh Start can receive up to six weeks of paid benefits to either bond with a new child (includ- ing biological, foster, or adopted children) or to care for a seriously ill or injured family member (child, parent, parent-in-law, grandparent, grandchild, sibling, spouse, or registered domestic partner). CExcellenceharte rin EducationSchool In 2004, California was the first state in the nation to enact a PFL program and now, starting this month, the program is getting even better: • Eligible Californians can now get approximately 60 to 70 percent of their pay while on leave – the highest wage replacement rate in the nation – up to the $1,216 weekly maximum benefit amount. • The seven-day waiting period has been eliminated, meaning that benefits are payable starting on the first eligible day of leave. Together, the benefit increase and the waiting period elimination are designed to encourage more people to use their PFL benefits by further easing the financial bur- den of taking time off from work. It’s also important to remember that most Californians have already paid for PFL benefits. PFL is not a government assistance program; rather, it’s funded by manda- Register Now!! tory paycheck deductions that more than 18 million Californians are paying to State Disability Insurance, noted as “CASDI” on most paystubs. 8 A.M. – 5 P.M.
