Support for the Picasa desktop album ended on March 15 Google announced it was discontinuing support for Picasa Desktop and Web Albums, effective March 15, 2016, and focusing on the cloud-based Google Photos as its successor. Picasa Web Albums, a companion service, was closed on May 1, 2016 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Picasa Though it will continue to work for users who already have it installed. Uploaded Picasa photos were transitioned to Google Photos on May 1. Google Photos has rapidly gained traction. In October, the company claimed it had more than 100 million active monthly users. In his review, PCMag analyst Michael Muchmore praised the interface, which he found to be "clean, minimal, and pleasing, with thumbnails of your photos organized by date.“ - I however miss many of the tools that picasa had offered. Unfortunately the link to download the old program no longer works, it redirects to Google Photos http://picasa.google.com/intl/en_uk/ What is the difference between Picasa, Google Photos,...? • Picasa is a software program that you install on your computer to let you edit and organize your digital photos and videos on Windows and MacOS computers. It offers easy-to-use features to upload pictures to photos.google.com. • Movies: Introducing Picasa 3 and What's new in Picasa 3.5 • Support site: Picasa • Install from: picasa.google.com • Google Photos for desktop is a website where you can upload pictures from your computer into "Albums" and share them with friends and family. There is also basic editing functionality as well as some features that reduce the workload for you organizing your photos collection like automatic tagging, auto-enhancing photos and videos, stitching panoramic pictures, etc. • Link: photos.google.com • Support site: Google Photos https://sites.google.com/site/picasaresources/Home/Picasa-FAQ/general/comparison-different-products What is the difference between Picasa, Google Photos,...? • Google Photos for mobile • is an app for use on Android or iOS smartphones that offers similar features as Google Photos for desktop. • Install from: Google Play on Android, or from Apple app store on iOS. • Support site: Google Photos • Picasa Web Albums (aka Picasaweb) (UPDATE: this website is shut down and sends you to google album archive) • is a website where you can see the same pictures that appear in Google Photos and share them with friends and family. But... no enhancements or changes have been made to Picasaweb since 2012, so it is getting quite outdated while all effort is being put into Google Photos. If you don't have a specific reason to keep using Picasaweb, you might prefer to use Google Photos. Some actions (like sort photos by name, public albums) are still available in Picasaweb but not (yet) in Google Photos. • Support site: Picasa Picasa Web Albums: www.picasaweb.com • Retired products • Google+ Photos was the "photos" section on the social network called Google+. The photos section was officially discontinued and replaced by Google Photos in 2015. Of course you can still do that today. • But how can a digital file be in two places at the same time. Well, it can’t unless you use a program like Picasa which categorizes every picture on your computer, and then allows you to create Virtual Albums. – Virtual Albums help you keep up with your favorites and allow for easy sync with your web album http://staff.beaumont.k12.tx.us/gloker/picasaintro.ht m Download http://staff.beaumont.k12.tx.us/gloker/picasaintro.ht m Getting Started http://staff.beaumont.k12.tx.us/gloker/picasaintro.ht m • ONLY scan My Documents, My First Launch Pictures and the Desktop. • The top option will scan the entire computer, which you may need to do if you have lost some images…but this will also add items from inside the Windows folder on the C drive and you will spend a lot of time removing stuff. http://staff.beaumont.k12.tx.us/gloker/picasaintro.ht m Photo Viewer Configuration • You MAY not like what Picasa does, but I think it is a wonderful way to browse your images even before you launch Picasa • Go ahead and Select All…you can always change it later. http://staff.beaumont.k12.tx.us/gloker/picasaintro.ht m Managing Your Folders • Go to Tools, then Folder Manager • Scan always any folders with pictures – Avoid Network Drives – Try to add a root of pictures rather than an individual folder http://staff.beaumont.k12.tx.us/gloker/picasaintro.ht m Managing Your Folders http://staff.beaumont.k12.tx.us/gloker/picasaintro.ht m Creating Virtual Albums • Click on a photo that may need to appear in more than one album. – Add to album – the first time you will need to create the album. – Afterwards, you can click and select or drag and drop. http://staff.beaumont.k12.tx.us/gloker/picasaintro.ht m Managing Your Folders • Edit folder descriptions to force pictures to stay current, like a folder of edits. • Picasa Getting Started Guide
Picasa Getting Started Guide Picasa is free photo management software from Google that helps you find, edit and share your photos in seconds. We recommend that you print out this brief overview of Picasa's main features and consult it as you use the program for the first time to learn about new features quickly. Organize Once you start Picasa, it scans your hard drive to find and automatically organize all your photos. Picasa finds the following photo and movie file types: • Photo file types: JPG, GIF, TIF, PSD, PNG, BMP, RAW (including NEF and CRW). GIF and PNG files are not scanned by default, but you can enable them in the Tools > Options dialog. • Movie file types: MPG, AVI, ASF, WMV, MOV. If you are upgrading from an older version of Picasa, you will likely want to keep your existing database, which contains any organization and photo edits you have made. To transfer all this information, simply install Picasa without uninstalling Picasa already on your computer. On your first launch of Picasa you will be prompted to transfer your existing database. After this process is complete, you can uninstall Picasa. Library view Picasa automatically organizes all your photo and movie files into collections of folders inside its main Library view. Layout of main Library screen: Picasa Getting Started Guide Page 1 of 9 Folder list The left-hand list in Picasa's Library view shows all the folders containing photos on your computer and all the albums you've created in Picasa. These folders and albums are grouped into collections that are described in the next section.

  • 3. Projektna Naloga – Grafika Poznamo Vektorsko in Rastrsko Grafiko. Spodaj Bom Obe Tudi Malo Opisal, in Tudi Kateri Program B
    3. Projektna naloga – grafika Poznamo vektorsko in rastrsko grafiko.

Intermediate Training The material in this handout is taken directly from the Picasa Website. It was decided to add all the information in one place so it could be viewed at one time. However, what is in this handout is a small part of all the help available on the Picasa website (http://picasa.google.com/support/) Also, not everyone has access to the internet. Below is the outline for the Picasa Intermediate Training. A. Organize your Photos a. Create Albums b. Using the Picture Tray c. Searching for a Photo d. Adding and Removing Folders e. Adding and Moving Photos f. Captions g. Batch Editing B. Sharing a. Creating a CD b. Exporting to a Movie c. Images for the Desktop and/or Screen Savers d. Creating a Slide Show e. Ordering Prints f. Emailing Photos g. Creating and Exporting a Poster h. Collages i. Export your Photos j. Backing Up and Saving 1 Organizing your Photos What are folders and albums? Albums are virtual groupings of photos that only exist in Picasa. Like a playlist, you can create combinations of any photos in an album or use a single image in multiple albums, all without using extra space on your hard drive. Plus, if you delete photos in an album, or if you delete whole albums, your original photo files will be untouched. Picasa folders show you exactly how your photo files are arranged in the folders on your hard drive. This way, you can organize and manage photos on your hard drive using folders in Picasa. For example, moving a photo between folders in Picasa will result in the photo being moved between the same folders on your hard drive.
