The advanced digital documentation permits the data fusion of interdisciplinary innovative modeling, analytical and non-destructive tech- niques, supporting the emergence of a transdisciplinary field for multispectral sus- tainable preservation and management of cultural heritage. The project of the rehabilitation of the Holy Sepulchre’s Holy Aedicule, as a pilot multispectral, multidimensional, novel approach based on transdisciplinarity, holistic digital reconstruction and cooperation in the protection of monuments, motivated the organization of this conference. As discussed in the homonymous panel with the NTUA Interdisciplinary Team (Prof. Antonia Moropoulou, NTUA School of Chemical Engineering- Coordinator, Prof. Manolis Korres, Emeritus, Academy of Athens, Prof. Andreas Georgopoulos, NTUA School of Rural and Surveying Engineering, Prof. Constantine Spyrakos and Asst. Prof. Charalambos Mouzakis, NTUA School of Civil Engineering), National Geographic Society (Fredrik Hiebert, Archaeologist), World Monuments Fund (Yiannis Avramides, Civil Engineer), European Commission (Albert Gauthier), as well as the representatives of the three Christian Communities, Guardians of the Holy Tomb and Asst. Prof. Stefanos Athanasiou, University of Bern, Faculty of Theology, the opening of the scientific community towards society, which managed to reach out to all humanity, was successfully achieved through the cooperation of National Geographic with NTUA, as characteristically demonstrated through its con- tribution in highlighting and transmitting the ecumenical values related to the opening of the Holy Tomb. The conference also explored the sustainable preservation and management of monuments, sites, and historic cities as a prerequisite, which must be met in order for them to remain within the listed Monuments of World Heritage recommended by UNESCO, such as the Medieval City of Rhodes, for which the strategic management plan proposed by the NTUA was discussed in detail. In this direction, new funding tools, schemes, and mechanisms are sought, based on the re-use of heritage assets at the service of local communities and in order to enhance their value, aiming to increase social participation and awareness and at the same time generate revenue for a sus- tainable preservation within the framework of circular economy, as stressed by Mrs. Bonnie Burnham, President Emeritus of the World Monument Fund, Mr. George Kremlis, E.C.-D.G. Environment, Responsible for the Circular Economy, Mrs. Le Minaidis, Secr. Gen. OWHC (Org. of World Heritage Cities) – Coordinator, Prof. Ismini Kriari, Rector at the Panteion University of Social and Political Sciences, Prof. Michael Turner, UNESCO Chair in Urban Design, Conservation Studies/Bezalel VI Preface Academy of Arts and Design, Jerusalem, Mr. Teris Chatziioannou, Deputy Mayor of Rhodes, as well as NTUA Professors Antonia Moropoulou, President of the TCG General Assembly, Sophia Avgerinou-Kolonia, ICOMOS CIVVICH, President of the Board of Directors of Eleusis 2021 - European Capital of Culture, Eleni Maistrou, Society for the Environmental and Cultural Heritage (ELLET), Council of Architec- tural Heritage. In the panel “Novel Education Approach for the Preservation of Monuments,” the education of both society and members of the scientific community was discussed. The Interdisciplinary NTUA Post-Graduate MSc Program “Protection of Monuments,” 20 years after its founding, offered by the NTUA School of Architecture, with the cooperation of the NTUA Schools of Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering and Rural and Survey Engineering, represented in the panel by Prof. Irene Efesiou, NTUA, Post-Graduate MSc Program “Protection of Monuments” Em. Prof. Eleni Maistrou, President of the Council of Architectural Heritage of the Society for the Environmental and Cultural Heritage, ELLET, and Antonia Labropoulou, NTUA, the Post-Graduate Program “Protection, Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Monuments Interde- partmental Program of Post Graduate Studies” offered by the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, represented in the panel by Prof. Maria Arkadaki, the University of the Peloponnese, represented by Prof. N. Zacharias, the School of Pedagogical and Technological Education (ASPETE), represented by Prof. Anastasia Sotiropoulou and the Frederick University of Cyprus, represented by Prof. Marios Pelekanos, recognized the significant educational value of problem-based learning and the hands-on approach in educating new scientists, while the value of the holistic digital fusion of data was highlighted by Professor Peter De Vries, Delft, European Society for Engineering Education (SEFI). The significant contribution of multimedia in the education of not only scientists, but the whole of society was discussed with Marcie Goodale, Product Director of National Geographic Learning and J. J. Kelley, Emmy-nominated film-maker of National Geographic. In order to achieve a multilateral approach for the preservation of cultural heritage, heritage stakeholders, science, and industry must be brought together. This issue was discussed in the relative panel by Amalia Androulidaki, Dir. Gen. of Anastylosis, Hellenic Ministry of Culture and Sports – Coordinator, Yuval Baruch, Israeli Antiquity Authorities, Michalis Daktylides, PEDMEDE, European Construction Industry Fed- eration (FIEC), Kyriakos Themistokleus, Cyprus Scientific and Technical Chamber (ETEK), member of the Executive Committee, Prof. Panagiotis Touliatos, Frederick University of Cyprus, Stefano Dellatore, Politecnico di Milano, Athina Chatzipetrou, President Hellenic Archaeological Fund, Dr. Evgenia Tzannini, Law Lecturer NTUA - T.C.G., Özgür Turan Aksan, Architect, Istanbul, Dr. Ekaterini T.
