Seven hundred and ten professional riders (Mean + SD: 27.9 + 4.2 years, 1.81 + 0.06 m, 68.6 + 6.33 kg) were coMpared for physical characteristics (i.e. age, height, and body Mass). The top 25% within rider specialties were selected as the saMple group based upon Pro Cycling Stats points General Classification, sprinter, tiMe-trialists, one-day racer earned during the previous season. An additional rider classification was created for those riders outside of the top 25% of all categories called DoMestique. General Classification riders in the WT were older than PC, however, there were no other differences between rider specialties. However, differences were found in anthropoMetric characteristics within the different divisions (i.e. height, body Mass, body surface area, and frontal area). La novità scontentò i commercianti Bellanesi che si riunirono tra di loro per protestare e far valere le proprie ragioni presso il Prefetto: Il 5 gennaio 1862 una delegazione si recò in barca presso il prefetto di Como e tutto il paese si riunì sulle rive in attesa dell’esito della spedizione. Il rientro avvenne di notte e il successo del drappello fu festeggiato con un corteo guidato dai tre Re Magi. A questo punto entra in gioco la fantasia popolare spostando l’evento sempre più indietro nei secoli fino al favoloso Seicento, epoca dai forti contrasti per la presenza degli Spagnoli e per avvenimenti nefasti quali la peste ed il passaggio dei Lanzichenecchi. Tutti questi elementi si ritrovano oggi nel corteo della “Pesa Vegia” con costumi estremamente colorati; ogni anno, infatti, dal lontano 1862 si continua a rievocare con grande impegno quella importante nottata. Ai nostri giorni la Pesa Vegia è stata arricchita con importanti coreografie di contorno, come l’allestimento del presepe vivente con la partecipazione di oltre un centinaio di personaggi che sfilano con il corteo spagnolo a cavallo. Durante la manifestazione in tutti i locali pubblici e banchi ambulanti si possono degustare i prodotti tipici del nostro lago e in più la famosa “buseca” ed il profumato e aromatico “vin brulé”.

Organizational Forms in Professional Cycling – Efficiency Issues of the UCI Pro Tour Luca Rebeggiani§ * Davide Tondani DISCUSSION PAPER NO. 345 First Version: August 2006 This Version: July 2007 ISSN: 0949–9962 ABSTRACT: This paper gives a first economic approach to pro cycling and analyses the changes induced by the newly introduced UCI Pro Tour on the racing teams’ behaviour. We develop an oligopolistic model starting from the well known Cournot framework to analyse if the actual setting of the UCI Pro Tour leads to a partially unmeant behaviour of the racing teams. In particular, we show that the blamed regional concentration of their race participation depends on a lack of incentives stemming from the licence assignation procedure. Our theo- retical results are supported by empirical data concerning the performance of the racing teams in 2005 and 2006. As a recommendation for future improvements, we derive from the model the need for a relegation system for racing teams. ZUSAMMENFASSUNG: Der Aufsatz stellt die erste ökonomische Analyse des professionellen Radsports dar. Er analysiert insbesondere die Anreizwirkungen der neuen UCI Pro Tour auf Teams und Fahrer. Ausgehend von dem bekannten Cournot-Ansatz entwickeln wir ein einfaches Oligopol-Modell, um zu untersuchen, ob die der- zeitige Pro Tour-Organisation zu einem unerwünschten Verhalten der Teilnehmer führt. Wir zeigen, dass insbe- sondere das Problem der geographischen Konzentration der Rennteilnahmen der Teams von den mangelnden Anreizen abhängt, die vom jetzigen Lizenzvergabesystem ausgehen. Unsere theoretischen Ergebnisse werden durch empirische Daten aus der Pro Tour 2005 und 2006 gestützt. Als Empfehlung für zukünftige Entwicklun- gen leiten wir aus dem Modell die Notwendigkeit einer Öffnung der Pro Tour ab, mit Auf- und Abstiegsmög- lichkeiten für Rennteams.

La Tre Valli Varesine del Centenario slitta al 2021, nel frattempo nasce il “Grande Trittico Lombardo del 2020” VARESE, maggio 2020 – Come da noi anticipato la scorsa settimana dopo la pubblicazioni da parte della UCI dei nuovi calendari relativi alle principali corse ciclistiche a livello internazionale, la Tre Valli Varesine edizione del Centenario slitta al 2021. Decisione la quale non pregiudica il fatto di avere quest’anno una competizione d’alto livello sulle nostre strade. Infatti i presidenti Renzo Oldani della Società Ciclistica Alfredo Binda, Luca Roveda della U.S. Legnanese 1913 e Silvano Lissoni della Sport Club Mobili Lissone vogliono, invece lanciare un messaggio positivo proponendo un nuovo progetto di solidarietà e collaborazione tra società sportive. Le tre storiche gare del Trittico Regione Lombardia (Coppa Agostoni, Coppa Bernocchi e Tre Valli Varesine) eccezionalmente per quest’anno, si fondono in una unica competizione del calendario UCI ProSeries. Nasce il “Grande Trittico Lombardo 2020”. Renzo Oldani presidente della società Binda Secondo le attuali indiscrezioni del calendario internazionale la data potrebbe essere martedì 18 agosto (prima del giro di Lombardia nel caso decidessero di spostarlo ad agosto) oppure, più probabile, martedì 22 settembre (ultima gara prima dei mondiali di Ciclismo 2020 se regolarmente confermati). Il percorso potrebbe interessare le città delle gare originali: Legnano (Coppa Bernocchi), Lissone (Coppa Agostoni) Saronno e Varese (Tre Valli Varesine). «Vogliamo dare un segnale forte di come in questo momento di grande difficoltà sociale ed economica la solidarietà e la collaborazione tra Società Sportive può davvero fare la differenza. – Affermano i presidenti delle tre Società Ciclistiche – Vorremmo creare una nuova opportunità e una nuova occasione di crescita per lo sport, per il nostro territorio e anche per tutte le realtà economiche che saranno al nostro fianco.
