Mattitude Improvement Tip The Ant Squasher My little guy Carter is almost a year and a half old and he is officially an ant squasher. I don’t know how he learned to squash ants; it must be instinctual and built into him like a lion chasing down a gazelle during an episode of the “Call of the Wild”. He is so amazed and delighted by these little creatures… and then… squash with his monstrous bare foot. After experiencing this survival of the fittest exchange first hand, I’ve noticed a really simple and powerful characteristic about ants. Ants never quit. If an ant is headed somewhere and Carter tries to stop him, the ant will not stop, not even for a giant 26 pound squasher. The ant looks for another way around, or goes over or under. The ant will do anything and everything it can to get to his destination. Everything but quit! After a couple of minutes of ant squashing, Carter gets distracted by a rock or stick or a bird and the ant is free to move on with his life. Wouldn’t that be cool if Carter adopted that philoso- phy – to never ever quit looking for a way to get where he wants to go? Even if a giant obstacle is in your way. Wouldn’t that be cool if Carter’s dad adopted that philosophy?
