Summer’s Best Party kicks off with new features, family fun, and wild adventures this August 5 - 14 Ridgefield, WA – Get the family ready for the 143rd edition of the Clark County Fair, this August 5 through 14 and get ready for more fun and adventure! The Clark County Fair Association has created a remarkable line up of features including an amazing collection of Fire Engines, brand new grandstand entertainment – including a Truck Pull Extravaganza and a First Friday Country Music Fest and an amazing array of musical talent is slated for the Fair inside the Sleep Country Amphitheater. And this year’s series offers more acts than ever before including: The Beach Boys, REO Speedwagon, Dierks Bentley and Josh Kelley, and – the riotous and outlandish fun of Motley Crue with Poison and the New York Dolls! It’s Summer’s Best Party and it’s Clark County’s biggest annual celebration and this is your save-the-date! We are offering FIVE amazing concerts for five great nights of music! NOTE: Amphitheater dates require the purchase of a performance ticket – and Fair admission is included. The 2011 Clark County Fair Concert Series in the Sleep Country Amphitheater include: • Friday, August 5 – The Beach Boys on stage at 7:30PM • Saturday, August 7 – REO Speedwagon on stage at 7:30PM • Monday, August 8 - Dierks Bentley and special guest Josh Kelley – at 7:30PM • Tuesday, August 9 - Three Days Grace with guest My Darkest Days at 7:30PM • Thursday, August 11 - Motley Crue with Poison and New York Dolls – at 7:00PM NOTE: A Fair ticket does not gain entry to concerts, however concert ticket do include admission to the Fair for that day. EXHIBITION HALL FEATURES The Clark County Exhibition Hall will be open, air conditioned and filled with great exhibits for the whole family to enjoy: • Commercial Exhibits – featuring the latest in kitchen gadgets, cosmetics, home and garden implements, and just about any product and service you can imagine. • Community Exhibits – with hobbies, crafts, foods, floral displays and 4-H exhibits. THE OLD FIREHOUSE – an exploration of Fire Fighting! • In honor of America's fire fighter's, the 2011 Clark County Fair is featuring a display spanning over two centuries of fire fighting apparatus and equipment. Some 50 pieces of equipment will be presented. Exhibits will range from an 1805 hose carriage from Philadelphia to a 2012 factory fresh pumper. Various decades will be represented by hand drawn pumpers and ladders and horse drawn equipment such as an 1892 American Steam Engine, which bridged the gap between horse power and motorization. The Fair has partnered with the Pacific NW Chapter of the Society for the Preservation and Appreciation of Antique Motor Fire Apparatus of America to present one of the largest displays ever to be held on the west coast! FAMILY FUN BY THE TON There’s plenty to do for kids of all ages: • Pirates Parrots are here! The Pirate's Parrot Show is a fun, educational, and interactive experience for all ages. Each year, 30-50 thousand people from across the country are amazed and delighted to safely hold and pet these parrots. Shows are at 1pm, 3pm and 5pm daily. • It’s the best spectator sport at the Fair! Come witness the amazing leaping skills of some of the top DockDogs® competitors. DockDogs welcomes one and all to compete for long-distance braggin’ rights. Anyone can enter! Go to www.DockDogs.com to register. • Check out the Jest In Time Circus of Fools! This returning feature of the Fair highlights the comedic antics of Topper Todd and Li Li Zucchini as they perform their sensational juggling, unicycle and stilt walking performances throughout the day! The Columbian stage will also host other strolling performers and community acts daily! • Be sure to visit Comcast Kid’s Park for a myriad of great activities and free kid-friendly entertainment and contests. She is a 2009 graduate of Mountain View High School, where she enjoyed taking classes in sign language, photography, and creative writing. She is currently attending Clark Community College to obtain an Associates Degree. In her spare time she enjoys taking photos and learning more about photography, spending time with her wonderful friends and family, volunteering at various groups and associations, writing short stories, and reading. • Princess Larissa Marini is the 17 year old daughter of Richard and Pam Marini of Battle Ground, WA. Larissa will be a senior this year at Battle Ground High School where she attends advanced placement and college prep classes as well as being on the honor roll and competing as an equestrian team athlete. Larissa is involved in many equine associations, however her most involvement is Royal Spurs 4-H group, Top Ten Gaming Association, as well as High School Equestrian Team. This June, Princess Larissa will be graduating from Battle Ground High School and moving on to attend a 4 year university. She plans to attend a pre-veterinarian program in hopes of becoming a large animal vet specializing in equine. As a vet, she hopes to rehabilitate injured animals and support local equestrian groups in her community. AMERICAN HONEY QUEEN The Clark County Fair will be home to the American Honey Queen for the first half of the event. She will be in the Bee Barn greeting guests, making presentations and more. Be sure to come by and greet her! • Teresa Bryson is the daughter of Tom and Linda Bryson of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania. She is a junior at Hagerstown Community College, double majoring in English and Forensic Science. A 4-H member for 10 years, she serves as a leader for two clubs. Teresa has been keeping bees for three years. In her free time, she enjoys reading, sewing and caring for animals.
