Biographical Notes

Carlo Carraro is a Professor of Environmental Economics at Ca’ Foscari University of Venice. He holds a Ph.D. from . He has been President of the University of Venice from 2009 to 2014 and Director of the Department of Economics from 2005 to 2008. In 2008, he has been elected Vice-Chair of the Working Group III and Member of the Bureau of the Nobel Laureate Intergovernmental Panel on (IPCC). He has been re-elected in 2015 for a second term. He is also Scientific Director of the Fondazione Eni Enrico Mattei (FEEM), Executive Board Member of the Euro Mediterranean Centre on Climate Change (CMCC) and Director of the International Centre for Climate Governance (ICCG).

Carlo Carraro is Co-Chair of the Green Growth Knowledge Platform (GGKP) Advisory Committee and a member of the Scientific Committee of the Harvard Environmental Economics Program (HEEP), the Institute for Economic Research (Ifo), Munich, and the Mercator Research Institute on Global Commons and Climate Change (MCC), Berlin. He is research fellow of the CEPR (Center for Economic Policy Research), London, and CESifo (Center of Economic Studies), Munich, and Associate Research Fellow, CEPS (Center of Economic Policy Studies), Bruxelles.

He is the Editor of the Review of Environmental Economics and Policy, and belongs to the editorial board of numerous academic journals. He published more than 30 books and more than 200 articles on several economic, energy and environmental issues. His blog is www.carlocarraro.org.

In 2013 he has been named Grande Ufficiale Ordine al Merito della Repubblica Italiana on the initiative of the President of Italy.
