Renowned for its excellent Masaai giraffe, elephant, lion and cheetah viewing and not surprisingly it is one of Kenya most popular parks. The birding is excellent especially near the lakes and swamps. Overnight: Ol Tukai Lodge Ol Tukai Lodge is one of the best spots in the world to watch elephant with the backdrop of Africa’s highest mountain, Mount Kilimanjaro. Writers have described Ol Tukai and the surrounding Amboseli National Park ‘as a home for the Gods’. A place of rugged beauty, abundant water, lush grass and forest, set like an oasis in surrounding savannah scrub. To crown it all, the Gods look upon one of the worlds most awe-inspiring sites – as dawn breaks and the sun sets from the 19,000 foot snow capped dome of Africa’s highest mountain. It is home to a spectacular array of plants, reptiles, birds and mammals; including elephant, rhino, buffalo, lion, leopard, cheetah and large concentrations of wildebeest, zebra, gazelle and other migratory wildlife. Leopard Gorge, in the heart of the conservancy, is famous as the setting of countless BBC Big Cat Diaries and National Geographic documentaries. Bordering the Maasai Mara National Reserve, the conservancy is vital for sustaining the famous Serengeti wildebeest migrations and the highly threatened African wild dog and black rhino. P a g e | 6 Overnight: Speke's Camp Speke’s Camp is a small and hosted camp located in a private area of the Maasai Mara on the border of the Reserve; the camp enjoys fabulous access to some of the best gaming areas in the Mara including Rhino Ridge, Musiara Swamp and Paradise Plains. The eight traditional safari tents with en-suite bathrooms are situated alongside the Olare Orok River under the shade of majestic indigenous trees. Game drives are with first-rate Maasai guides into the National Park and can include bush breakfasts and sundowners. Hot-air ballooning can be arranged with the Head Office before arrival. Chapter Five of our Constitution provides the need to ensure sustainable exploitation, utilization, management and conservation of the environment and natural resources. However, Water Towers are facing wanton destruction and therefore there is urgent need to reverse the trend. Water Towers have a positive impact on the economic growth of the Country. They provide strong linkages to the economy, both in providing intermediate products and services for the industries and goods for consumption by households. The estimated water yield from all the Water Towers in Kenya is 15,800 million cubic meters per year (M3/year), which is more than 75% of the renewable surface water resources in the Country. The Water Towers are therefore enablers to the achievement of the Big Four Agenda (Food and Nutrition Security, Universal Health Coverage, Affordable Housing and Enhancing Manufacturing) since these are all water dependent sectors.
