Bu çalışmada, reality show programlarının biçim ve içerik açısından özellikleri ve bu tür programların izlenme nedenleri ele alınacaktır. İzleyici kitlenin yoğun olduğu bu program türlerinin, neden tercih edildiği bu çalışmanın ana sorunsalıdır. Bu bağlamda; reality show programının alt türü olan yetenek showların, tercih edilme sebeplerinin analizi yapılacaktır. “O Ses Türkiye” adlı yetenek show programı, izlenme oranı açısından başarılı bir örnek olarak adlandırılmakta ve bu nedenle örneklem olarak bu çalışmada incelenmektedir. Steven Reiss, reality programların izleme profilini sunan 16 temel arzu teorisini ortaya koymuştur ve bu teori çalışmanın temelini oluşturmaktadır.
