We are looking for a passionate, talented, and inventive developer to help enhance our industry-leading genetic evaluation systems. You will be leveraging data mining, statistical evaluations, artificial intelligence and more. You will be interfacing with software developed by top universities across the globe. The Software Developer designs, develops, tests, debugs and implements operating systems components, software tools and utilities. This role determines systems software design requirements, ensures that system improvements are successfully implemented and monitored to increase efficiency, and generates systems software engineering policies, standards and procedures.

Core Duties and Responsibilities

 Strong understanding of object-oriented design and coding principles  Identify issues during software design, development, and testing  Manage and reduce software bugs for software releases to production  Work closely with business users on application and testing requirements  Manage code repositories and standards for maintaining code  Evaluate development options, research, and propose solutions  Map and document our data models, processes and environment  Research new development practices and technologies that could benefit development team and company  Drive software development standards, code reviews, and governance program  Develop and implement strategies for data acquisitions  Explains difficult or sensitive information; works to build agreement  Works independently, receiving minimal guidance  Uses best practices and knowledge of internal or external business issues to improve products or services  Solves complex problems; takes a new perspective using existing solutions  May lead projects with manageable risks and resource requirements

Qualifications

 Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science or related field  Minimum of 5+ years in a similar role  Proven experience in Python, Perl, and PHP  Experience in extracting, cleansing, and manipulating large, diverse data sets  Broad business knowledge in Software Development  Good working knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle  Good working knowledge of Agile and Waterfall project management styles  Good general knowledge of current and future IT technology  Strong organizational and interpersonal skills  Good presentation skills  Experience in PL/SQL a plus  Experience in Python microframeworks such as Flask a plus
