It was envisaged earlier, that al1 the C-Series Tables based on full count would be included in Part lI-C(i). This volume was to contain Distribution of population by Mother tongue and Religion, Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes in Tables C-V, C-VII and C-VIU. Table C-V, however, could not be finalised in time and as such it was left to be included in the volume Part II-C(ii). The present volume includes Tables C-VII (Religion) and C-vln (Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes). Each table is preceded by a flyleaf which explains concept and definition on the basis of which these tables have been prepared. The types of data presente,d in these tables and the layout and method of presentation have also been described in the flyleaves. The data presented in this volume were first processed in the different Regional TabuJation Offices and were later finalised in the Central Tabulation Unit attached to the Head Office at Patna under the able guidance of Shri U.P. Shrivastava, Deputy Director of Census Operations and Shri H.K. Sinha his successor in office. They did commendable work in bringing out this volume. Shri R.B. Singh, Assistant Director, Shri M. Abbas, Senior Geographer, Shri P.N. Sinha, Tabulation Officer and Shri Sheo Prasad, Printing Inspector and their teams also did valuable work and I am grateful to all of them. ,wish to express my gratitude to Shri A.
