The purpose of all historic motorcycle racing is to provide an appropriate environment for, and to showcase competi- tion among, classic and certain special-interest clubman RESOURCES and grand prix racing motorcycles. AHRMA recognizes the difficulty and problems involved in maintaining these rare and valuable machines.These rules and class categories are founded upon the technical advice of experts and are intended to provide meaningful, fair competition. The rules and guidelines contained in this book have evolved from many former vintage racing clubs. They represent the latest thinking and evolution of the vintage racing movement. The aim is to provide the best and safest competition through uniform rules and consistent application. AHRMA also offers a forum for “alternative” types of modern roadracing that otherwise would DENNIS PARRISH not receive the exposure they deserve. These include Sound of Singles®, Battle of Twins® and AHRMA NATIONAL Sound of Thunder. The most up to date version is available on the internet website: www.gov.uk/vehicle-registration/old-vehicles 8/21 V765 scheme How to register your vehicle under its original registration number: a. Applications must be submitted on form V765 and signed by the keeper of the vehicle agreeing to the terms and conditions of the V765 scheme. A V55/5 should also be filled in and a recent photograph of the vehicle confirming it as a complete entity must be included. A FEE IS NOT APPLICABLE as the vehicle is being re-registered and is not applying for first registration. b. The application must have a V765 form signed, stamped and approved by the relevant vehicle owners/enthusiasts club (for their make/type), shown on the ‘List of Vehicle Owners Clubs’ (V765/1). The club may charge a fee to process the application. c. Evidence MUST be presented with the application to link the registration number to the vehicle. Acceptable forms of evidence include:- • The original old style logbook (RF60/VE60). • Archive/Library records displaying the registration number and the chassis number authorised by the archivist clearly defining where the material was taken from. • Other pre 1983 documentary evidence linking the chassis and the registration number to the vehicle. If successful, this registration number will be allocated on a non-transferable basis. How to tax the vehicle If your application is successful, on receipt of your V5C you should apply to tax at the Post Office® in the usual way.

We meet every Sunday for a dayride to an unknown destination for lunch, then ride a different route home. Most rides consist of about 200 to 300 miles, and are usually confined to backroads. Some of the popular destinations include state parks, Blue Ridge Parkway, and various locations in Virginia, Tennessee, and South Carolina. Started and based as a BMW motorcycle organization, the Knobbies are supported by the BMW Riders Association and the BMW Motorcycle Organization of America. You do not have to ride a BMW to be a member of the Knobbies. We accept all types of motorcycles, but we prefer responsible riders who enjoy the touring aspect of motorcycling. Weekly Sunday Rides The Knobbies meet around 8:00 AM at Timberwoods Restaurant You’re traveling through another dimension, a dimension (I-40 Exit 106, Morganton, NC) for breakfast and a day ride.     Project Number: RD4-ABCK Motorcycle Rear Suspension A MAJOR QUALIFYING PROJECT REPORT SUBMITTED TO THE FACULTY OF WORCESTER POLYTECHNIC INSTITUTE IN PARTIAL FULFILMENT OF THE REQUIREMENTS FOR THE DEGREE OF BACHELOR OF SCIENCE BY JACOB BRYANT ALLYSA GRANT ZACHARY WALSH DATE SUBMITTED: 26 April 2018 REPORT SUBMITTED TO: Professor Robert Daniello Worcester Polytechnic Institute Abstract Motorcycle suspension is critical to ensuring both safety and comfort while riding. In recent years, older Honda CB motorcycles have become increasingly popular. While the demand has increased, the outdated suspension technology has remained the same. In order to give these classic motorcycles the safety and comfort of modern bikes, we designed, analyzed and built a modular suspension system. This system replaces the old twin-shock rear suspension with a mono- shock design that utilizes an off-the-shelf shock absorber from a modern sport bike. By using this modern shock technology combined with a mechanical linkage design, we were able to create a system that greatly improved the progressiveness and travel of the rear suspension. Acknowledgements The success of our project has been the result of many individuals over the course of the past eight months, and it is our privilege to recognize and thank these individuals for their unwavering help and support throughout this process. First and foremost, we would like to thank our Worcester Polytechnic Institute advisor, Professor Robert Daniello for his guidance throughout this project.     250 Triumph/BSA Rocker Arm Mods As a professional Triumph mechanic during the early 1970’s, I remember the 250cc singles very well. These machines were built by BSA, with some being re-branded to Triumph. Models included the BSA B25 and Triumph T25. They were easy to work on and fun to ride because the engine would rev up effortlessly. However, they were highly susceptible to valve flotation and subsequent valve train damage. And since these engines performed so well at high RPM, loss of compression from valve damage was something we saw all the time. Damage Repair To repair this problem, the first step is to remove the cylinder head and both RH engine covers to inspect the entire valve train. The cam followers (tappets) should slide freely in the engine case over their full length without binding, and fall out from the fully-lifted position under their own weight. A bent cam follower will bind at its extreme lift point. Bent tappets must be replaced. The exhaust valve can easily be checked for leaking by holding the exhaust port straight up and watching the combustion chamber while pouring in thin solvents. A bent valve will let solvent gush by. A valve in good condition should hold solvent for at least 3 seconds. Photo 1. Stock rocker arms and the compression release lug Future Prevention After replacing valves and lifters you have repaired the damage, but not the cause. The real culprit is that the valve train weighs too much to sustain high RPM. You could install heavier valve springs, but that would simply wear out the cam and cam followers.
