Father Ken’s Notes

“The Dirty Laundry – A Story About Judging Others”

A young couple moved into a new neighborhood.

The next morning while they were eating breakfast, the young woman saw her neighbor hanging the washing outside.

“That laundry is not very clean; she doesn’t know how to wash correctly. Perhaps she needs better laundry soap.”

Her husband looked on, remaining silent.

Every time her neighbor hung her washing out to dry, the young woman made the same comments.

A month later, the woman was surprised to see a nice clean wash on the line and said to her husband, “Look, she’s finally learned how to wash correctly. I wonder who taught her this?”

The husband replied, “I got up early this morning and cleaned our windows.”

And so it is with life…what we see when watching others depends on the clarity of the window through which we look.

So don’t be too quick to judge others, especially if your perspective of life is clouded by anger, jealousy, negativity or unfulfilled desires.

Father Ken

For Your Information…

As you may have noticed there is new carpet in the narthex. We had a bleach spill outside of the bathrooms. Unfortunately the carpet we had was discontinued and could not be matched. Therefore, working with the insurance company, the entire carpet was replaced. The Eucharistic Table This Week Sat./Sun. SMM Consolation Ministry Is Seeking Additional Volunteers – The Consolation Ministry is an opportunity for compassionate parishioners to reach out to families who are experiencing the initial shock and grief of losing a loved one. Additional volunteers from our parish family are needed to replace former volunteers who have had to step down from their team due to declining health.

Volunteers deliver food ordered from a local grocery store along with a sympathy card from our parish family as soon as notifies one of the team captains. The team then visits the funeral home to conduct a brief prayer vigil with the family and visiting friends.

Lastly, at the one-month, sixth-month, and one- year anniversaries of the family’s loss, a member of the team makes a supporting phone call to the family and lights a memory candle in the church.

Parishioners are asked to consider volunteering to serve in this beautiful ministry by calling John and Jo Kane, 724-337-8310 (H) or 724-961-1994 (C), for further information and to be assigned to one of the five-member Consolation Ministry teams.
