Strengthening Families Program: This program sponsored by Purdue extension is designed for parents and youths ages 10-14. The program helps provide tools and skills needed to build stronger families. The program lasts seven weeks and covers a variety of topics. Sessions begin on June 17, dinner is provided at 5:30 pm with sessions from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at the administrative office of the First Baptist Church, free childcare is provided for nonparticipating children. SAINT OF THE MONTH: St, was born on August 20, 1845 in Igolomia, . He was baptized with the name Adam. When he was just 18, he joined the 1863 uprising against Russian occupation. The uprising failed and Adam was taken prisoner. While imprisoned he developed an infection in his left leg, which ultimately had to be amputated. When he was permitted to return to Poland, he abandoned his studies of agriculture and dedicated his time to the study of art. He enjoyed a considerable amount of success as an artist and for nearly a decade had numerous exhibits of his work. In 1880 his desire to serve God led him to join the but after six months he left the order. In 1884 Adam became a Franciscan tertiary. He abandoned his art and dedicated himself entirely to caring for the poor and homeless. In 1887 he was inspired to take the name Albert and took his vows in Cracow, Poland. It was at this time that he founded an order of brothers who became known as the Albertines. Several years later he also founded an order for women, who also dedicated their time to serving the poor and homeless. Albert died on , 1916 and his funeral was attended by average people as well as the mayor of Cracow and the city's bishop. He was beatified by Pope John Paul II on June 23, 1983 in Cracow. Albert was canonized St. Albert Chmielowski on November 12, 1989. His feast day is celebrated on June 17 since he died on Christmas Day.

FEAST OF PENTECOST: After Jesus ascended to heaven the apostles and disciples were very fearful because the Lord was no longer with them to lead and guide them. PARISH COUNCIL The St. Vincent Parish Council met in the Parish Hall on Tuesday, May 21st at 7:00 pm.
