SALISBURY UNIVERSITY Undergraduate Academic Journal Inaugural Issue – Volume 1 – Fall 2019 Salisbury University Office of Undergraduate Research and Creative Activity (OURCA) Cover Art: Cult, 48” x 60” oil, glitter, and assorted jewels on canvas 2019, by student artist Arielle Tesoriero “Cult” contains elements referencing Kate Chopin’s 1899 novel The Awakening. This is one of my favorite novels. “A green and yellow parrot, which hung in a cage outside the door, kept repeating over and over: ‘Allez vous-en! Allez vous-en! Sapristi! That’s all right!’ He could speak a little Spanish, and also a language which nobody understood, unless it was the mocking-bird that hung on the other side of the door, whistling his fluty notes out upon the breeze with maddening persistence.” Edna Pontellier, the main character of The Awakening, is a wife and a mother. She is described as not being particularly attractive, a bad parental figure, and an unaccomplished painter. This resonates with me as I feel I have similarities with Edna, (although I am not a mother), so in “Cult” I represent not only myself, but Edna. The first lines of the novel open with a parrot and a mocking bird, which represent Edna’s entrapment in society. She is an outcast, as women were expected to follow the four rules of “the cult of domesticity” or “the cult of true womanhood,” which were piety, purity, domesticity and submission. Throughout the novel, Edna defies these rules by acknowledging her sexual desires and establishing her own identity apart from her husband, her children, or anyone else.

Download Brooklyn 99 Season 1 Free Fast Brooklyn 99 Has Been Cancelled by Fox After Five Seasons and the Internet Is Raging

download brooklyn 99 season 1 free fast Brooklyn 99 has been cancelled by Fox after five seasons and the internet is raging. Brooklyn 99 has been cancelled after five seasons and fans are absolutely livid about it. The police sitcom, which stars Andy Samberg, Terry Crews and Andre Braugher, has become a cult favourite, but bosses at Fox have decided it’s time to give the show the axe. Since the show started, it has become the second longest-running live-action comedy series the company has had on its listings, next to the now defunct New Girl, which also ends this month. It was created by Parks and Recreation alum Dan Goor and Michael Shur, but has seen dwindling ratings since its 2013 launch due in part to its ever-changing schedule slot in the US. In the UK, it has found its home on E4, with Netflix picking up entire previous seasons after they aired. Its season five finale will now act as the series end, with Amy Santiago and Jake Peralta tying the knot in one last hurrah for our group of loveable misfit detectives. It will air in the US in ten days time. Brooklyn 99 has previously been praised for its all-inclusive cast, and its recent inclusion of a bisexual detective in Rosa Diaz, played by Stephanie Beatriz. Fans have been in uproar since the cancellation announcement was made, with a trending hashtag to ‘Renew 99’ quickly taking shape on Twitter. Squad, we love you. What a gift this series has been: it’s been my honor.
