CRI 2013 Annual Report 1 Board of Directors Lila McCain President Jamie Hintlian Rowing for All Vice President Community Rowing Inc. A Note from the President This past year was a year of transition and continued program excellence here at CRI. Thanks too exceptional volunteer support and “stepping up” from our rowing community, I am pleased to reporteport Lila McCain, Board President that we have raised the bar at all operational and programming levels. Our outreach programming for the Boston Public Schools, Military Veterans and Para Rowers continued to grow and thrive in 2013. With generous grant and foundation support, we were able to add additional schools to our BPS schedule and bring many of these young athletes to CRI for on-the-water programming. Our Middle School Indoor Rowing Program is now serving as an effective pipeline for the high dosage, competitive program for BPS high schoolers. In 2013, we said goodbye to our friend and long-time Comp Girls Coach Ethan Curren as he moved with his family to upstate New York. Boys Coach Marko Vukovic also left to pursue other opportunities. CRI was fortunate to have two exceptional in-house candidates who were hired in late summer and did not miss a beat with regards to getting our youth teams ready for the fall season. Welcome Veronika “Vee” Platzer and Will Congram! As an organization, we have an award-winning boathouse, outstanding coaches and a high producing staff. We are continually looking to provide the best possible experience for our rowing population. To that end, we are exploring a comprehensive and proactive equipment replacement plan which will enable us to have high quality boats, oars and other crucial equipment to provide an optimal experience for everyone in our community. As always, we remain committed to “Rowing for All” through our outreach programs and scholarships. I thank you for your support and input as we move these initiatives ahead this coming year. It is an honor to serve this fantastic organization. Every day there are literally hundreds of transformativeormative moments on the Charles thanks to our community. Mike Baker Brent Bode I am constantly staggered by the work and generosity that goes into making these programs Jean Bowen available. The Annual Fund, corporate events and building rentals continued to bridge the revenue Tara Coleran gap with our youth and adult programs. The electric wakeless launch program was supported by a Will Congram generous gift from a CRI supporter that covered all of the materials, and we’re now applying for more Kaitlin Coulter than $500,000 in grants to cover the expense of more development and we are looking forward to Ethan Curren the delivery of our fi rst “production” launch after extensive testing on the prototype. The IRL received Nonna Gale a $5,000 gift to support coaching education. Nigel Gallaher Ariel Handler We’ve passed many milestones — the IRL is now an offi cial USRowing partner, Let’s Row Boston is at Karl Harshe capacity for the fi rst time, and we met our goal for the Harry Parker Boathouse endowment. We’re so Jimmy Hughes incredibly lucky to be a part of a community that has the potential to transform what’s possible, and I Lane Lauriat know that we will all work to make 2014 the year that rowing reaches a tipping point. • Rowonec News
ROWONEC NEWS October 2018 UPCOMING EVENTS AGM - ONEC’s annual general meeting will take place on October 23 at Elmwood School. Directors will present their seasonal reports; financial statements will be presented, and a new board of directors will be voted in. All ONEC members should attend. Boats up - All hands are needed to store the boats and get the boathouse ready for the winter. October 27 is the date (rain date Sunday October 28). DIRECTORS REPORT The National Capital Commission is planning to accelerate the ONEC Boathouse restoration. The Boathouse will be restored and winterised on the three floors. There should be a restaurant on the ballroom level, but the upper deck is supposed to be open to the public. Most importantly the washrooms will be modernised and hooked up to the City’s sewage system. ONEC is a ‘legacy tenant’ of the boathouse and will have use of the boat storage floor and deck area. They have said that they will support us completely in the transition. We are meeting the NCC later in the week and then on an ongoing basis and we will provide more information once we have it. Kudos to all our volunteer coaches who helped to improve our sculling training. This was a major improvement this year. Thanks also to all who maintain the equipment and docks. All things must come to an end. It looks like we will move to ‘yellow season’ (restricted rowing due to cold water) very soon. After that we hope everyone can come to the Boats UP on Saturday, October 27.

2004 Head of the Fish Regatta Entry Packet and General Information The 19th annual Head of the Fish Regatta, co-hosted by the Saratoga Springs Rowing Club and the Saratoga Rowing Association, will be held Saturday, October 30th, 2004. This year the regatta will be held on the same 2 ½ mile course as it has been used for the past 18 years. As was recently instituted, the warm-up lane will remain such that there is no need to cross the racing lane when launching or landing. We hope you will be able to join us on the 30th for the Head of the Fish Regatta – home of great water, and the best trophies and t-shirts on the circuit. IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR 2004 1. All registration will be handled online this year at www.RegattaCentral.com. Deadlines will be strictly enforced. We will NOT exceed 1000 entries. 2. Official Regatta Venue – Two years ago we had a change in this area. The regatta venue moved from the NYS boat launch facility to Lee’s Park, located just on the other side of the Boat launch (see enclosed map). The move to Lee’s Park more than tripled the available space for the regatta. (Note: Car topped boats remain based in the NYS boat launch) It also allowed the addition of vendors and concessions. The Waterfront Restaurant, a secondary venue used in the past, is no longer used by the regatta. The finish line remains unchanged. 3. Entry Deadline – The regatta entry deadline will be strictly enforced. All regatta entries must be completed online no later than October 17th, 2004.
