PRESS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE TAN SRI LIM KANG HOO CONFERRED “LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD” CHONGQING (CHINA), Fri. (Dec 5, 2014): Prominent Malaysian businessman Tan Sri Lim Kang Hoo was among eight leading personalities conferred the “Lifetime Achievement Award” during the 6th World Chinese Economic Forum in Chongqing, China last night. Lim, who is executive vice-chairman of construction group, Ekovest Bhd and sits on the board of several other listed entities. He is also the executive vice-chairman of Iskandar Waterfront Holdings Sdn Bhd, which is the master-developer of prime waterfront real estate in Johor Bahru. The prestigious award was in recognition of his outstanding leadership in construction and property developments in Malaysia. The award was conferred on him by Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin during the opening gala dinner of the forum. Also present was the Minister of Transport Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai and Chongqing City vice-mayor, Mr Liu Qiang. More than 3,000 participants from 30 countries are attending the forum, which is organized by the China Council for Promotion of International Trade and the Asian Strategy and Leadership Institute (Asli) Since its inception, over 40 Lifetime Achievement Awards have been conferred on people who have distinguished themselves in government, business, civil society and the arts. Previous recipients of the ward include Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, MUI Group chairman Tan Sri Khoo Kay Peng, YTL Corp chairman Tan Sri Yeoh Tiong Lay, Berjaya Group Founder Tan Sri Vincent Tan, Genting Malaysia chairman Tan Sri Lim Kok Thay and former CEO of SP Setia Group Tan Sri Liew Kee Sin. Lim, 59, is the visionary behind the creation of Danga Bay as Johor Bahru’s new business, leisure and entertainment destination. The Fourteenth ASEAN and China Transport Ministers Meeting (14th ATM+China) was held on 5 November 2015 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The Meeting was co-chaired by H.E. Dato’ Sri Liow Tiong Lai, Minister of Transport of Malaysia and H.E. Mr. Yang Chuantang, Minister of Transport of the People’s Republic of China. The Ministers reaffirmed their commitment to enhance transport connectivity between and among ASEAN Member States and China and urged the senior officials to continue their effort to move forward the priority areas and major projects/activities in railway, highway, civil aviation and waterway transport cooperation in order to facilitate regional trade and investment flows. 3. The Ministers adopted the ASEAN-China Maritime Training and Education Development Strategy which aims to enhance the capacity of maritime training and education in ASEAN Member States and China, particularly in the areas of maritime management and seafarers education, training and development. The Ministers also acknowledged the importance of this initiative towards improving the quality of human resources for the development of regional and global shipping industry. 4. The Ministers welcomed the entry into force of Protocol 2 of the ASEAN-China Air Transport Agreement, tasked and encouraged senior officials and relevant working groups to make more active and intensive engagement between ASEAN and China in the area of aviation cooperation, and eventually put in place a liberal and substantial air services framework in support of the upgrading of the ASEAN-China Free Trade Agreement.

Chinese attempt to show their existence in the world‘s eyes can be seen in their branding. Branding is important in the aspect of ethnicity because it creates certain assumptions about an ethnic group. They try to show their identity by using several strategies both in explicit and implicit ways. However, Chinese themselves barely participate in Hollywood movies as the main characters. Crazy Rich Asians then appears as a movie that highlights the real-life portrayal of Chinese and diaspora in real life. Much of the plot conflict focuses on the Eastern- educated family welcoming Rachel, a Chinese-American as a part of them. Most of the main characters classify themselves as culturally Chinese, so they are playing Chinese ethnicity characters.
