WWE:Mae Young Classic Preview WWE:Mae Young Classic Preview Author : On July 14th and 15th 2017, the women of wrestling will take center stage. On the heels of an amazing Cruiserweight Classic last summer, which led to the creation of 205Live, WWE decided to see if they could catch lightning in a bottle twice. The WWE scoured the globe for the best wrestlers in the world. WWE is reaping the benefits of a star-studded women's division, with the likes of Sasha Banks, Bayley, Charlotte, Becky Lynch, Alexa Bliss running the main roster and Asuka, Ember Moon, Nikki Cross, and Ruby Riot in the title picture on NXT, there is no shortage of talent. Based on what we saw from the Cruiserweight Classic, the better part of the 32-woman field will see contracts from WWE at the commencement of this tournament. This field holds wrestlers from the United States, Japan, England, New Zealand, China, Scotland, Australia, Dominican Republic, India, South Korea, Mexico, Germany, and Brazil. Along with multiple countries represented there are also multiple backgrounds represented. This tournament boasts multi- generation wrestling families, as well as cross-fit backgrounds, MMA backgrounds, boxing, Muay Thai, Ju Jitsu, Karate, and a military/SWAT background. Throw all that together, mix it with the personalities of these wrestlers and we have ourselves one very fun, and enjoyable tournament. The Finale will stream live on the WWENetwork Tuesday, September 12, at 10 pm. 1 / 2 Long Term Booking: Be on the lookout for the WWE to use this tournament as a MASSIVE springboard in the women's division to gain more notoriety. This tournament could be used to lay the groundwork for an all women's weekly tv show(i.e. 205Live). Also, don't be surprised if WWE creative uses this as a way to build towards an all women's Royal Rumble match, and also to build a women's tag team division. Below is a list of the competitors: Shayna Baszler Marti Belle Kairi Sane Mercedes Martinez Nicole Savoy Toni Storm Mia Yim Candice LeRae Sage Beckett Princesa Sugehit Bianca Belair Tessa Blanchard Serena Deeb Vanessa Borne Taynara Conti Kavita Devi Lacey Evans Rachel Evers Jazzy Gabert Santana Garrett Reina González Dakota Kai Abbey Laith Xia Li Sarah Logan Renee Michelle Piper Niven Kay Lee Ray Ayesha Raymond Rhea Ripley Miranda Salinas Zeda 2 / 2 Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org).

  • Donald Trump Shoots the Match1 Sharon Mazer
Donald Trump Shoots the Match1 Sharon Mazer The day I realized it can be smart to be shallow was, for me, a deep experience. —Donald J. Trump (2004; in Remnick 2017:19) I don’t care if it’s real or not. Kill him! Kill him! 2 He’s currently President of the USA, but a scant 10 years ago, Donald Trump stepped into the squared circle, facing off against WWE owner and quintessential heel Mr. McMahon3 in the “Battle of the Billionaires” (WrestleMania XXIII). The stakes were high. The loser would have his head shaved by the winner. (Spoiler alert: Trump won.) Both Trump and McMahon kept their suits on—oversized, with exceptionally long ties—in a way that made their heads appear to hover, disproportionately small, over their bulky (Trump) and bulked up (McMahon) bodies. As avatars of capitalist, patriarchal power, they left the heavy lifting to the gleamingly exposed, hypermasculinist bodies of their pro-wrestler surrogates. McMahon performed an expert heel turn: a craven villain, egging the audience to taunt him as a clueless, elitist frontman as he did the job of casting Trump as an (unlikely) babyface, the crowd’s champion. For his part, Trump seemed more mark than smart. Where McMahon and the other wrestlers were working around him, like ham actors in an outsized play, Trump was shooting the match: that is, not so much acting naturally as neglecting to act at all. He soaked up the cheers, stalked the ring, took a fall, threw a sucker punch, and claimed victory as if he (and he alone) had fought the good fight (WWE 2013b).

  • Wxw Holds Keynote on Wxw NOW Streaming
wXw holds keynote on wXw NOW streaming service, announces details on Germany's first wrestling network wXw just announced the first in-depth details on our new "wXw NOW" streaming network, which will launch one month from now on 8/13 at www.wxwnow.de. It will not just be a collection of shows like a lot of companies offer for a monthly fee via Pivotshare but also offer original content and a lot of archived shows, some dating back as far as 2006. We will also have our uniquely designed interface/UI, while hosting and infrastructure will be managed by Vimeo, our long-time streaming partner, dating back to 2013. Wrestling journalist Markus Gronemann (DarkMat.eu, Wrestling Observer) considers this to be the biggest launch of an over-the-top pro wrestling channel by a single promotion since New Japan World. wXw Managing Director Christian Jakobi held a keynote presentation tonight at 8 pm CEST at the wXw Wrestling Academy training school, which was streamed live on Facebook (the video is available, albeit only in German, here) and talked about what future and past events and what kind of original content would be available. We had up to 750 viewers simultaneously on Facebook and also had some students and a trainer (Toby Blunt) in attendance to provide some crowd noise and cheering at key points during the announcement. Marquee Events are wXw's version of pay-per-view caliber shows, where feuds start and end and international talent often appears. There currently are 10 marquee events on the calendar, with some of them being multi-day shows:

  • Cubed Circle Newsletter 241 – Consistency Is Hard
Cubed Circle Newsletter 241 – Consistency is Hard As many of probably noticed, we have been posting late and sporadically for the last month. This was, obviously, not our intention, but with the second semester eating into my free time, staying up to date is a tall order. Even without the newsletter itself seeing weekly publication the site has still remained up to date on a weekly basis, thanks primarily to co-author Ben Carass, as well as guest writers Paul Cooke and Leslie Lee III. But, the newsletter has survived for well over 241 weeks, and will hopefully thrive in the years to come. I have attempted to make provisions for publishing related tasks which should minimize the risk of major delays (obviously there will be some regular delays, as this late issue can attest), but we have some fail safes in place in order to keep this to a minimum. With all of this said, we have a great issue for everyone this week with Paul Cooke discussing the Pro-Wrestling Only Greatest Wrestler Ever project and his personal experience with the poll, Ben covers the news including tons of results from Japan and the Lesnar USADA violation, the Mixed Bag returns with a look at comedy wrestling, Ricochet/Ospreay, and a potential WWE match of the year -- plus Ben also looks at last Sunday's Battleground show and the first RAW of the brand split (a very good show). Also, for those unaware, we now have an official Twitter account @CubedCircleWres allowing the banger to unprecedented highs at @BenCarass and @RyanClingman.
