See the attached maps. ARRIVING BY PLANE From MALPENSA AIRPORT The Milano-Malpensa International Airport is approximately 50 Km West of Milan. TAXI to your destination (Siemens or Hotel): approx. 75-100 € - time 50 minutes or BUS service to Milano (ticket about 7 €). The journey time is of about 50-60 minutes. There are buses from Malpensa to Milano Centrale, Milano Garibaldi and Milano Fiera. Both Milano Centrale and Milano Garibaldi are served by the Metro Green Line while Fiera by the Metro Red Line. Milano Centrale is served also by the Metro Yellow Line. or TRAIN: Malpensa is connected with Milano Cadorna rail station (ticket 10.50 €). There is a train every 30 minutes and the journey time is of about 40 minutes. Both the Underground Red Line serves Cadorna and the Underground Green Line. The Green Line serves the Central Station. From LINATE AIRPORT The Milano-Linate International Airport is approximately 6 km South-East of Milan. TAXI to your destination (Siemens or Hotel): approx. 25-35 € time 20-30 minutes or BUS service to Milano Central Station (Milano Centrale) ticket about 4 €. The journey time is of about 25 minutes. Milano Centrale is served by the Green and and Yellow Lines of the Metro. BUS line No. 73 to San Babila Square (in the heart of town, ticket abot 1 €). San Babila is served by the Metro Red Line. From ORIO AL SERIO AIRPORT http://www.sacbo.it/ The Milano-Orio al Serio International Airport is 45 Km north-east of Milan. It is destination of many low- cost air lines. TAXI to your destination (Siemens or Hotel): approx. 90€ - 45 minutes or BUS service to Milano Central Station (ticket about 12 € return). Journey time: 1 hour. 4 PUBLIC TRANPORTS TO SIEMENS http://www.atm-mi.it Notes: - tickets have to be purchased before entering the bus, e.g. at the newsagents in and around the Metro stops. Direct bus from Central Station : 727 Direction CUSANO/CINISELLO Duration: 25 minutes. The ticket costs 2 Euro (ask a ticket for Cinisello). When facing Central Station the bus stop is on the left side of the station (in Piazza Quattro Novembre). It runs about every 10 minutes. 727 Direction CUSANO: Siemens stop is in in front of Hotel Cosmo Palace. 727 Direction “S.Eusebio/Cinisello” stops close to Siemens as indicated on the map. By Metro and bus: Take the red line and go to Sesto F.S. (also called “Sesto S.Giovanni”). Then either take a taxi or a bus, either 702, 704, 725 or 729.     29 – Eurocruise – Milan In the previous segment I should have mentioned that this date, May 1, May Day, would be my last full day in Europe and would mark the end of my journey. \ I would be flying back to the U. S. the following morning. So my trip on the 10:57 from Bergamo to Milan was my penultimate train ride. Upon arrival at Milan Centrale at 11:50 I found a locker quickly and reached the adjacent trolley stop forthwith. I did not stop to admire the iconic stub-end railway terminal, constructed in 1931 during the fascist Mussolini era, as I have done that in the past and could do it again later. The weather had turned gloomy again, but that did not stop me from buying a day ticket and using it for a number of hours. It would stay dismal, but with only an occasional drizzle, but also with the sun peeking through the clouds briefly from time to time. Milan is Italy’s second largest city, with a population of 1.5 million (3 million in metropolitan area). Despite the construction of a 4-line heavy Metro system (soon to be 5), it still retains the status of being one of the favorite cities of trolley enthusiasts world wide, especially Americans. This is probably because it still operates a remarkable number of Peter Witt streetcars from the late 1920s over a network of 18 routes that stretches for almost 80 miles (see http://www.urbanrail.net/eu/it/mil/tram/milano-tram.htm). In fact 5 of Milan’s tram lines are still exclusively served by the iconic Peter Witts.
