I am involved in the daily management of complex arrhythmias (VT Unit). I spend 3 days per week in the electrophysiology laboratory being involved as first operator in atrial fibrillation and ventricular tachycardia ablation procedures. In the remaining time I do research in the electrophysiology field of atrial fibrillation and ventricular tachycardia (main area of interest is the EGM characterization). November 2014 to February 2018: I have been awarded by the European Heart Rhythm Association (EHRA) of one-year research grant in electrophysiology to be spent at Hôpital Haut Levéque, Bordeaux (Director Prof. Haïssaguerre). I was involved in the clinical activity as well in research projects on sudden cardiac death, atrial fibrillation and ventricular tachycardia ablation procedures. Since September 2015, I am a Ph.D student at University of Bordeaux. Current projects are: 1) Exploring the role of the right ventricle in the setting of CRT. A working heart model setup study. 2) Novel discrimination algorithms in SVT/VT: improving ICD therapies. 3) Non invasive study of VF mechanisms. These projects are being developed at the LIRYC institute under the supervision of Prof. Bordachar and Prof. Haïssaguerre. March 2013 to October 2014: I was employed at University Hospitals Bristol NHS Foundation trust as clinical fellow in electrophysiology. My work schedule was 4 days per week in the electrophysiology lab plus a morning of arrhythmia outpatient clinic. I completed my own operating lists in conventional EP and was independent in performing transeptal punctures as well as performing complex ablation in left atrium (AF and AT). I developed good experience of ablating paroxysmal and persistent AF. I had some experience of 1st operator VT ablation and considerable experience of controlling the 3D mapping systems in these cases. I was also involved in more than 200 ICD/PPM implants and CRT devices (although catheter ablation has been my focus in my post). May 2012 – March 2013: I was employed at Ist.Clinico S.Ambrogio (Gruppo San Donato, Milan) as consultant in EP. I spent three days per week in the EP lab performing pacing procedures, simple EP procedure (right sided). During this post I managed an acute general cardiology ‘take’ and A&E on call rota. I therefore have good experience of managing unstable cardiac patients. Sept 2011 – Apr 2012: I was clinical fellow at the inherited cardiac centre – under Prof. E. Arbustini – Pavia University in collaboration with Prof. Schwartz. There I gained cardio-genetic skills, performing as first operator > 500 transthoracic and 150 transoesophageals echocardiogram. I had chance to study (and scan) 200 HCM patients and their families as part of my speciality thesis in cardiology. I also gained experience of managing patients with Marfan syndrome, Loyes dietz and Ehlers-danlos syndromes. I was involved in the follow-up of patients with ARVD, idiopathic dilated cardiomyopathy, long QT and Brugada syndrome. 3 Jan 2011 – August 2011: I spent 8 months in the EP lab of my University (Sacred Heart, Rome, Italy) where I was trained in performing conventional EP studies and procedures like atrial flutter, AV node ablation and PM implantation. Sept 2010 – December 2010: I spent this time in the cath lab of my University (Sacred Heart, Rome – Italy). I performed some coronary angiograms as first operator and I’ve been involved in more than 100 angioplasty as second operator. March 2008 – August 2010: I worked as SpR in CCU and Cardiology wards at Policlinico Gemelli - Rome, an hospital with more than 1000 beds, where I was involved in treating end stage heart failure, acute coronary syndromes and arrhythmias. Experience with (3D) mapping system • Knowledge of the entire CARTO Suite (Biosense, Johnson&Johnson): CartoXP , Carto Sound ™ , CARTO version 3,4, 5 and current 6. I am confident with the paso double™ function, SCI CFAE maps in the context of AF mapping. • NAVX - PRECISION suite (ABBOTT). Excellent experience with HD Grid catheter in the setting of Ventricular Tachycardia. • Rhythmia™ (Boston Scientific) – mainly used on AT and VT. I have great confidence with this machine, being able to run alone the whole setup. • Non invasive mapping: knowledge of the Cardioinsight (Medtronic) - More than 100 cases (VT, VF and AF procedures). IT Knowledge • Knowledge of MAC OSx, Windows 95,98, 2000, NT, XP, Windows 7 & Vista • Knowledge of the entire Office package: Powerpoint, Excel, Access, Word. • Basic knowledge of SPSS and STATA (statistic software) • Knowledge of HTML – JAVA - PHP languages – great experience in building WEB pages as well application for Iphone, Ipad, Android. • Knowledge of Osirix , 3D anatomic reconstruction of aorta and great vessels of the heart. 4 Hobbies Astronomy. I have a 80Mm refractor, 12” dobson telescope, and (for the portable use) a stabilized binocular 15x50 Canon. I like the visual observations but main interest is astrophotography. I like to pass my free time during summer taking pictures of the deep sky: Messier objects like M31, Andromeda Galaxy and the well known M53 galaxy. The setup is Canon 450D, EQ systrek scan and refractor 80 mm by Skywatcher. Radiocontrolled modellism. I have more than 15 RC models : airplanes (glider, seaplanes, warbirds reproduction mustang and spitfires), drones, helycopter, sail ships, submarines. Most of these RC models are electric. Only few are powered by gasoline (nitro). Ham radio. I am radioamateur since 2006 when I built up my first RF trasmitter on 88 Mhz. My main interest is the study of wave propagation at different wavelenght. Lambda ½ Lamba vs ¼ dipoles and their reflection in the troposphere on HF band. I am licensed by the Italian minister of telecommunication with the callsign IZ0JOJ. I also performed this license in England (callsign M0HKH) and in France (Callsign F4VQW). I like QRP and low power transmission in morse cose. I own 6 transceivers, 1 on VHF band, 5 on HF band, one home made. App developer. I have great interest in medical application for daily use. I personally developed Cardiourgenze and Heart Emergency, apps available on Apple Store as well on Android market. I recently developed the app “EP Rounds” (available since May 2017), which is an application where cardiologist can exchange (and comment) interesting ECG and EGM traces.
