Abstract: TheBivalvia()faunawasstudiedfrombenthicsamplescollectedfrom101stationsfromvariousbiotopesinthe TurkishAegeanSeain2000.Twospecies,namely Dacrydiumhyalinum (Monterosato,1875)and Musculusdiscors (Linnaeus, 1767),newtotheTurkishBivalviafaunaarereported.Notesonthemorphologicalandecologicalfeaturesofthesespeciesare provided.

MaterialsandMethods Description: Shellfragile,equivalve,inequilateral, BenthicsampleswerecollectedwiththeR/V beaksashortdistancefromtheanteriorend,rhomboidal Hippocampus between17.07.2000and05.10.2000 inoutline,yellow-brown,surfaceofthevalvescoveredby fromdifferentbiotopesofinfralittoralandcircalittoral athinperiostracumlightgreenorbrown,anteriorpart zonesbymeansofdredge,beam-trawlandVanVeen with9-12radiatingribs,andintheposterior,finer30- grab.Samplesweresievedthrough0.5mmmeshsized 45ormoreribs,veryfineconcentriclinesalsopresent, sieve.ThespecimensweredepositedattheMuseumof themiddlepartwithoutribs.Internalmargincrenulated FacultyofFisheries,EgeUniversity(EFSM).Identification incorrespondencewiththeradiatingribs,therest isbasedonTebble(1966),SalasandGofas(1997),and smooth.Ligamentexternalanddeeplyinset. Giannuzzi-Savellietal.(2001),andsystematic Dacrydiumhyalinum (Monterosato,1875) classificationiscarriedoutaccordingtoCLEMAM(2006). Description: Shellbrittle,flattened,equivalveand slightlyinequilateral,beakslyingclosetotheanterior margin.Irregularlyoval,antero-ventralregionbroadly rounded,ventralmarginstraight.Theshellisshiny vitreouswhite.Periostracumlightyellowtobeige.No sculpturepresentexceptforfineconcentricstriae.Margin smooth.Hingelinewithnumerousteethoneithersideof thebeaks,especiallyontheposteriorside.

Discussion Basedonmaterialcollectedfrom101stationsalongthe 1mm AegeancoastofTurkey,2speciesbelongingtothefamily MytilidaeareaddedtotheMolluscanfaunaoftheTurkish seas.Thus,thenumberofthemytilidspeciesoccurringin Figure3.Dacrydiumhyalinum. opposedtothe33speciesofthefamilyMytilidae present Dacrydiumhyalinum hasbeenrecordedbySalas intheMediterranean.Thirteenmytilidspecieswere (1996)between76and118monhardbottoms(gravel reportedfromtheAegeancoastofTurkeytodate, androckswithcorallinealgae)andbyCosenzaandFasulo followedbytheMediterraneancoastwith12species.
