Sweet Briar College B ULL ET IN ' Sweet? Briar College SWEET B RIAR VIR N , GI IA 1 9 2 6 — 1 9 2 7 ' ‘ d by SWEET B RIA R CO LLEG E S WEET B RIA R VI RGI N I A , ‘ N otice THIS Communication is addressed to every former student of Sweet Briar but particularly to those who -have lost touch with the college lease r ead i ! and the Alumna Association . P t This year the Alumnae Bulletin is being sent to every old girl whose d i name is not liste among the lost . Hitherto the Bullet n as well as other communications have been sent to only those active members who have h d paid t eir dues within the last three years . It obviously entails consi erable additional expense to send them to the larger list, but we are hoping that the money thus spent will be a good investment . We believe that in a majority of instances those Sweet Briar gir ls who have completely lost touch with the Alumnae Association and have lapsed into inactive membership have done so because of the lack of a central o fli ce f m and the di ficulty of knowing to whom com unications should be addressed , d m a and the scattered con ition of our alu n , than from any definite lack of S f . l a fection for weet Briar or lack of interest in her welfare We rea ize , n n also , that once having been put on the i active list and thereafter receivi g no communications it has been difficult for the individual alumna to know et the how to g back in touch with association . For this reason , therefore , the Alumna Association is digging into its very slender resources this year in the attempt to reach those girls who want to be reached and get them back into active membership . o r der to a In reclaim the lost and strayed , it was decided at the Alumn S 1 26 be meeting at weet Briar in June 9 , that any inactive member could reinstated as an active member merely by paying this year ’ s dues without the necessity of paying up the back dues that may have accumulated during the period of her inactivity . This is a bargain and should appeal to any n . u d femini e soul It may have been fo r , five , six years since you have pai your dues and now you can come back in at the price of one year ! Yo u th i will find in e Bullet n a detachable bill for membership dues . — Please fill it out with your name and address , enclose two dollars one dollar for membership proper and one as a tax for additional expenses i nf d h a o ffice - curre this year by establis ing an alumn , and send it to the a S A S . lumn ecretary , weet Briar, Virginia We are hoping very much that the response to this effo r t on the part A of the ssociation will justify our faith in making it . Please come back n . i i to active membership We need you . We need your nterest and 4 SWEET BRIAR COLLEGE ur . enco agement, we need your work , we need your dues If we do not get an adequate response we shall have played and lost and the Alumna Association will probably be in a hole . The eighteen of the origi al y w om we d wit us at commencement made a charming Exhibit A and ever y time I answer the S o ld weet Briar House bell and find an girl , with or without husband , I have a good time . I am going first to congratu late you on your alumna office and the way d a . d its work is moving forward I am sure you ma e no mist ke in oing this , and h th I hope you are going to give Kat aryn Norris , your secretary , all e and f help support without which her best e forts will not be productive . ffi d As I run over the college year as seen from my o ce , the outstan ing f the n news items for you are the orientation work for reshmen , beginni g and of a selective method of admission , the increase of faculty consequent n i the r offeri gs n the departments and financial situation . We gave th ee days to the reception and orientation offreshmen in September during which d the f and they were ma e familiar with place , college o ficers , our ideals h t e d . methods , the library and stu ent organizations It has seemed a very profitable three days and we are already planning for what those days are to contain next year . S weet Briar continues to admit on certificate from satisfactory schools , and the Registrar and Committee on Admissions in addition are selecting from acceptable applicants those students whose records promise the most a fruitful college c reer . We expect two new members of the faculty next year with consequent larger offerings in the departments so augmented and there is in progress very serious study of the curriculum looking to the added development and d co r r elaf stimulation of the gifte , and the recognition of the underlying tion of the subject matter of a curriculum . A m l ost as a corollary of these activities come financial considerations . The Board of Directors has raised the fees at Sweet Briar to $800 a year 2 n S to become effective in September 19 7 . In increasi g tuition weet Briar is d h e d only oing late what the other colleges av one before her , and her new fee is still strikingly lower than most others with whom she is to be ALU MN XE BULLETIN 7 d r “ compare . We are , howeve , eager that students who ought to be at Sweet Briar should not by this increase be deterred from coming and there are now available twenty /fiv e tuition scholarships offered by the college f and nine fr o m other sources . It looks as if even these will not be su ficient to take care of all worthy applicants next year and I can think o f nothing that ought to yield more to a Sweet Briar girl who can do it than to make it ’ possible fo r another fine girl to have Sweet Briar s advantages for a year .

The Planning Commission is required to make recommendations to the Tampa City Council on all proposed changes to the Imagine 2040: Tam pa Comprehensive Plan pursuant to Chapter 163, Part II, Florida Statutes and Chapter 97-351, Laws of Florida as amended. Plan Amendment TA/CPA 17-05 is a privately initiated request to amend the Imagine 2040: Tampa Comprehensive Plan Future Land Use Plan Map. The proposed amendment would allow for higher residential density. The subject site is located in the South Tampa Planning District, on the southwest corner of West Roland Street and South Sterling Avenue. The request is to change the Future Land Use designation for an approximate 0.19- acre subject site from Residential-10 (R-10) to Residential-20 (R-20). Currently, the site is being used as a single family home. The proposed Plan Amendment, which allows consideration of up to 20 units per acre, would allow for the subject site to see a potential maximum of three residential units on site. The maximum Floor Area Ratio would also increase, from the current 0.35 to a 0.50. Under the adopted Residential-10 category, the subject site could be utilized for single family detached residential development with limited townhomes considered.
