Route Plotting Notes During the route plotting exercise, the children were consulted and made the following comments:

There is a blind spot on the corner near the old quarry between Threapland & Plumbland Only 1 car can go over Bridge at a time There should be a 1 way system near the school Have to go in to side of road when cars come by Have to cross main road in village & there’s no path going to school Sometimes caught by cows on way to school, so could be late for school! Lots of cars near school Lorries are a nuisance because they block the road & there is no room to pass Road near school is too narrow Dangerous to cross the road where 3 roads meet in Arkleby

Travel Plan for you

Add any additional local information known to the school

Notes Following the route plotting and surveying exercises, we will be looking at the following:

Parking in the village and walking to school Sharing cars Adults walking with several children Cycling to school

4 Summary of transport and road safety problems (Current problems on routes to the school, and reasons preventing sustainable travel to school)

No Footpaths along roads to the school Car parking is inadequate The wall of the village car park blocks the view of children entering and coming out of school Very narrow roads leading to school
