They are common in our OC Parks and in urban- suburban areas. Foreword The OC Zoo General Development Plan will be the guiding document for the improvements that OC Parks will be making at the zoo in the future. As one of the featured attractions at Irvine Regional Park – the oldest Regional Park in California – the OC Zoo began with a small collection of animals in the 1920s. It was established at its present location in the 1960s and was redeveloped, along with the park, in the early 1980s. The zoo is a haven for rescued wildlife and currently features a bald eagle, mountain lions, black bears, and other animals native to Orange County and the American Southwest. The OC Zoo is an increasingly popular destination; its attendance growing from 104,000 in 2006 to 226,000 in 2012. The mission of the OC Zoo is to: Provide an attractive zoo with high-quality programs that entertain and educate visitors about the current and past animals known to inhabit Orange County. To carry out that mission in an orderly manner, the General Development Plan offers a phased approach that ensures: 1) important infrastructure and ‘behind-the-scenes’ improvements are made at the zoo; 2) essential amenities are provided for zoo visitors; and 3) exhibit areas are systematically upgraded and new exhibits are added. The General Development Plan process utilized a consultant team led by RJM Design Group and Torre Design Consortium Ltd. The planning and design process involved zoo stakeholders to produce a number of concepts that were refined into the General Development Plan described in this document. The plan includes four implementing phases. The initial phases of work focus on infrastructure, visitor amenities and exhibit upgrades and a large new exhibit area; the later phases of work offer dramatic possibilities for redeveloping the zoo entrance and the children’s area at the zoo. • Phase I: General Zoo Improvements (near-term), Drainage • Phase II: Restroom Facility, Interim Entry Plaza, Interim Gift Shop • Phase III: Oak Woodlands Exhibit, Walkways and Connectors • Phase IV: Entry Complex, Orientation Plaza, Discovery Complex, General Zoo Improvements (long-term) OC Parks and our talented and dedicated OC Zoo staff are excited to begin implementation of the General Development Plan.

To comply, the following must be analyzed: • The practicability of alternatives to any longitudinal encroachments • Risks of the action • Impacts on natural and beneficial floodplain values • Support of incompatible floodplain development • Measures to minimize floodplain impacts and to preserve/restore any beneficial floodplain values affected by the project The base floodplain is defined as “the area subject to flooding by the flood or tide having a one percent chance of being exceeded in any given year.” An encroachment is defined as “an action within the limits of the base floodplain.” 2.8.2 Affected Environment This section is based on the Location Hydraulic Study State Route 55 Improvement Project From Interstate 5 to State Route 91 (LHS) (April 2018), the Water Quality Technical Memorandum (November 2018), Stormwater Data Report (March 2019), and the Preliminary Drainage Report State Route 55 Widening Project (October 2018) prepared for the proposed project. 2.8.2.1 Regional Hydrology The proposed project is located within the Santa Ana River hydrologic unit and within two subhydrologic areas: the Lower Santa Ana River and San Diego Creek, both of which are part of the East Coastal Plain Hydrologic Sub-Area (801.11). In addition, the proposed project is located within three watersheds: the Lower Santa River Watershed, Santiago Creek Watershed, and San Diego Creek Watershed.

    SANTA ANA ZOO WEBSITE REDESIGN PROJECT PREPARED FOR Professor Matthew Bietz IN4MATX 132 PREPARED BY Aiden Ahn Jason Chen Tessa Tsao Winona Lisuallo 1 EXECUTIVE SUMMARY Introduction This document summarizes the final project of the DIS 4 Santa Ana Zoo (SAZOO) group and their redesign of the SAZOO website user interface. The website was launched in 2007, and though it is updated with current information, it desperately needs a redesign. We focused our redesign on improving the user’s ability to find vital information by tackling the site’s current issues of unintuitive navigation, bad aesthetic design, and lack of information hierarchy. Objective The objective of this project was to redesign the SAZOO website interface to allow its users to quickly and efficiently find vital information. All final redesigns were evaluated to ensure it effectiveness with its target audience. Methods ● Interviews ○ Interviews were 25 - 30 minutes on average ○ Interview questions involved finding users’ internet habits ○ Interview questions involved finding out users’ design preferences specifically for recreation websites. ● Survey ○ The survey was 15 questions. ○ The survey was shared on social media platforms. ○ In addition to questions about internet habits, the survey asked surveyees’ to select good and bad websites based on their own preferences. ● Usability Tests ○ Usability tests were 30 minutes on average ○ Usability tests tasks were chosen based on a scenario where they went through very common and important functions on the site. ○ Participants were given questionnaire at the end which contained questions towards satisfaction of interface, satisfaction with product, and time to comment ● Cognitive Walkthroughs ○ Cognitive walkthrough helped to identify more usability issues ○ Information from the cognitive walkthrough was collected in real time ● Sketching/mockups ○ Team members went through individually sketched their designs 2 ○ After discussion, final designs were concluded and mockups were created ○ Mockups went through iterations as changes were needed.

These are also safety issues that the State does not require to be covered in Safety Elements, but that the City of Glendale considers of sufficient importance as to be included in its Safety Element. Specifically, issues covered herein include terrorism and civil unrest, crime, major accident response, dangerous plants and animals, and disease and vector control. The data used in this study are based entirely on openly published information. No confidential information was sought or obtained, nor was any used. 6.2 Terrorism and Civil Unrest 6.2.1 Definitions Webster’s dictionary defines terrorism as the “use of force or threats to demoralize, intimidate, and subjugate, especially as a political weapon or policy.” Terrorists rely on stealth and surprise to accomplish their means and to cause a feeling of uncertainty and hopelessness.
