Tiedotusoppi Helmikuu 2013 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Olen tutkielmassani tarkastellut, onko Stam1nan maskuliinisuuden representaatioilla yhteys heavy metal -maskuliinisuuden representaatioihin ja millaisen vaikutelman Stam1na antaa maskuliinisuuden representaatioiden kautta. Heavy metal -maskuliinisuuteen liittyy edelleen stereotypioita, joiden mukaan heavy metal -musiikki ja sitä esittävä muusikko voidaan mieltää automaattisesti ultramaskuliineina. Olen tämän vuoksi pyrkinyt herättämään tutkielmallani ajatuksia heavy metal -maskuliinisuuden representaatioista 2010-luvulla. Valitsin analyysiin Stam1nan kolmelta albumilta Stam1na (2005), Viimeinen Atlantis (2010) ja Nocebo (2012) kolme lyriikkaa: ”Erilaisen rakkauden todistaja”, ”Pakkolasku” ja ”Valtiaan uudet vaateet.” Analysoin ”Valtiaan uudet vaateet” myös kappaleesta tehdyn musiikkivideon osalta. Our first Boston show was with DYS, The Mighty COs and The AMERICA’S HARDCORE FU’s. It was very intense for us. We were so intimidated. Future generations will fuck up again THE OUTPATIENTS got started in 1982 by Deep Wound bassist Scott Helland At least we can try and change the one we’re in and his older brother Eric “Vis” Helland, guitarist/vocalist of Mace — a 1980-82 — Deep Wound, “Deep Wound” Metal group that played like Motörhead but dug Black Flag (a rare blend back then). The Outpatients opened for bands like EAST COAST Black Flag, Hüsker Dü and SSD. Flipside called ’em “one of the most brutalizing live bands In 1980, over-with small cities and run-down mill towns across the Northeast from the period.” 1983’s gnarly Basement Tape teemed with bored kids with nothing to do. I do not know how and why that hap- pened, but something about opera spoke to me and captured my young imagination. Since then I have been hopelessly devoted to this form of musical theater. Situations in daily life can suddenly conjure in my mind the scenic and musical accompaniments of its operatic equivalent. Indeed, life inspires art and its greatest celebration according to me is in the art form of opera. When I visit the opera house, it is very striking to notice the number of psychiatrists one meets, as compared to colleagues from other medical specialties. How can that be? Art is essential to life. Be it music, dance, theater or literature - art gives us the possibility to work through our emotions. Art can be a means of catharsis, help us to better understand our thoughts and feelings and equip us to better navigate the ups and downs of life. The cultural expression of art is most often emotional in character. We can experience joy, pain, longing, hate, fear and all the other emotions in the human psyche through art. Psychological suffering occurs when these emotions are amplified and get out of control. The sometimes over exaggerated expression of these emotions in art forms like opera allow us to experience the extreme highs and lows of the human psyche in a controlled and beau- tiful form.
