Henry IV Parts I & II were created in our Stratford-upon-Avon workshops and performed in Stratford, throughout the UK, and in London. They were broadcast live to cinemas across the world and free to classrooms around the country. More than 250,000 people saw the productions.

Great roles for women were the central theme of the Roaring Girls Season, which brought together four devilish productions written by Shakespeare’s contemporaries, in the beautiful Swan Theatre.

Our work with today’s writers gives them the opportunity to stage epic stories which focus on key issues of the day, just as Shakespeare did. Oppenheimer, by Tom Morton-Smith and directed by Angus Jackson, was one of several new plays commissioned and produced by us. It headed direct from our Stratford-upon-Avon home to London's West End for a celebrated run.

A company of 24 actors worked with two directors to create three extraordinary productions. Love’s Labour’s Lost, Love’s Labour’s Won and a new play by Phil Porter, The Christmas Truce, marked the centenary of the First World War. The central character of The Christmas Truce, Bruce Bairnsfather, was celebrated in our free exhibition, seen by 32,000 people, which explored the life and work of this great British cartoonist.

LEAH WHITAKER BEHIND THE SCENES OF THE LOVE'S LABOUR'S LOST LIVE CINEMA SCREENING Our extraordinary Open Stages project continued this year. We worked with 100 amateur theatre companies in a unique and inspirational exchange of skills and creativity. Approximately 2,500 amateur theatre makers were involved alongside our seven partner theatres to create over 91 productions performed in locations ranging from village halls to pubs, woods and graveyards. Over 60,000 people saw the shows.

All our work is made in Shakespeare’s home town and we perform across the world to reach the widest possible audience. Our highly praised productions of Wolf Hall and Bring Up the Bodies, were presented on Broadway following a successful run in Stratford-upon-Avon and London’s West End, where they were co-produced with Playful Productions UK. They picked up nominations for six Olivier Awards and eight on their travels.

The financial results for 2014/15 were boosted by the continuing success of contributed £1.3m net income which has increased by £0.2m (2.9%) since Matilda The Musical and also successful transfers to London of new work, last year through increased activity in catering and retail operations. delivering a net surplus of £4.3m.
