Simpson who has served the Town faithfully for over 50 years as a Police Officer. He has been a Fireman for many years and a fa- miliar figure as custodian at the Town Hall. Harry was born in Goffstown November 7, 1897. He served in the 1st N.H. Battery at the border in 1916. also in World War I A.E.F. A grateful town appreciates his services.     Melbourne University Football: Some famous Personalities JOHN ARNOLD SEITZ (1883-1963) Throughout his life, Arnold Seitz had a keen interest in, and involvement with, University Football Club: first as a player and captain, then club secretary and finally as a loyal donor in later life.1 Born at Carlton, Victoria, on September 19, 1883, Seitz was educated at Blackburn and Auburn State Schools, before completing his secondary education as Dux at both Hawthorn College and then Scotch College. Initially he studied engineering at Melbourne University, before being elected Rhodes Scholar in 1906. While a student at Melbourne University he successfully captained the University Football Club in the team’s inaugural season in the Colleges Football Association in 1904 and then led the club in its first year in the Metropolitan Football Association in 1905. He also held the position of club secretary in 1904-05 and 1910-11. At Oxford he completed a BA and MA and was awarded a Blue for cricket in 1909. Seitz was a skilful right-hand batsman with “plenty of strokes” and “a brilliant fieldsman”.2 He represented University in intervarsity, played District cricket with East Melbourne (1901-02 to 1905-06, 1910-11 to 1914-15) and Carlton (1921-22 to 1926-27) and represented Victoria from 1910-11 to 1912-13, captaining the state in his last season.3 A prominent educationalist, he taught at Scotch College (1910- 14), was headmaster of Hamilton College (1915-21), Inspector of Secondary Schools (1929-36) and Victorian Director of Education (1936-48). He was Victorian Cricket Association president from 1947-63 and Carlton Cricket Club president until his death at Melbourne on May 1, 1963.

This unique business concept incorporates the two competitive priorities of customization and price, which are by definition rivaling. An increased demand towards customized goods, and the technical capabilities of the 21st century, has made mass customization a viable strategy for companies to meet the demand and differentiate themselves from competitors. Implementing mass customization is however a challenging operation, as the agility of customized goods has to mixed with the efficiency of mass produced goods. There will be both internal and external challenges, and the company will have to adjust the supply chain and production, and furthermore manage an increased level of complexity within logistics, sourcing and information management. This thesis proposes a conceptual framework (figure 4.2) that serves as a tool to evaluate the scope of the implementation process. It is meant as a decision making tool that can help companies assess and identify the success factors, as well as the internal and external changes that have to be made. The findings show that although mass customization combines the elements of efficiency and customization, the success factors are heavily dependent on the competitive parameter. A company should habitually have a clear focus on either offering a large degree of customization or offering customization at low cost, as these to business models have vastly different supply chain configurations and success factors.

Over the coming weeks, the Victorian Government has committed to consulting with people directly affected by the February 2009 fires, who will be asked for their views on important decisions to help make Victoria as fire-safe as possible. I encourage you to contribute your views by attending one of the community meetings being held around the state. To view a copy of the full report visit www.royalcommission.vic.gov.au Eighteen months after Australia’s worst ever bushfires and just a week after the release of the Final Report of the Bushfires Royal Commission, it seems timely to reflect on how far we have come and some of the lessons we have learned. I continue to be amazed by the resilience of those in bushfire-affected communities across the state and their determination and courage as they continue the rebuilding progress. We know from the experts that the healing process is slow and that for many people the second year after a disaster the size and scope of this one is often worse than the first as the reality really sinks in. This is particularly true for those in the bereaved community. Enormous efforts are still being made to provide psychological and emotional support to those in need. More than 90 case managers continue to assist over 1000 bushfire-affected people, and more than 11,000 psychological counselling vouchers have been provided to affected individuals.
