Some of these ruins can still be seen east of the present castle. The castle belonged to the Knights of Saint John of Jerusalem and was the seat of the most important of the Commanderies that belonged to them. Entry Fee. Choirokoitia Neolithic The ancient site of Choirokoitia dates back to the 6th 1 hour Settlement millennium BC. Larnaca Area Larnaca Fort Larnaka (Larnaca) Fort stands on the shore at the ½ hour south end of ‘Phoinikoudes’corniche and was probably built during the reign of James I (1382 -1398) to protect the town’s harbour. Its original shape remains unknown, but the fort appears to have had the form of a square tower. Rebuilt in 1625 during the Ottoman period, it was used as a prison in the first years of British rule. Entry Fee. Larnaca District The Larnaka District Museum is located near the centre 1 hour Museum of town. Inaugurated in 1969, it originally consisted of two exhibition rooms. In 1987 and 1988 the Museum was enriched with new rooms and finds. Larnaca Salt Lake and SultanTekke is the grave of Umm Haram, wife of 1 hour Hala Sultan Tekke Ouvadas Ibn - as Samiz, a general of Moavias who was the leader of the first Arabic invasion of the island in 649 B.C. Besides fresh fruit and vegetables, the market all sells a wide range of other goods, including homemade bread, olives, herbal teas, halloumi and other cheese and salami. Medieval Walls The first walls surrounding Lefkosia (Nicosia) in the ½ hour 14th century were built by the Franks and enclosed a much larger area than the 16th Venetian Walls that still surround the old town. When the Venetians occupied Cyprus, they decided to demolish the Frankish Walls because they were old and did not offer adequate defence against new weapons such as artillery. The Frankish Walls were also too big to be manned by the Venetian army and too close to the hills in the east and southeast of the city. Next to it is the new Archbishop’s Palace, a two - storey stone building in Neo - Byzantine style housing the offices of the archdiocese and the residence of the archbishop. It was built by Archbishop Makarios III between 1956 and 1960 and also houses the Byzantine Museum and the Library of the Archbishopric. Troodos Area Caledonia Falls, Caledonia Waterfalls are located in Platres village in 2 hours Platres Troodos. This beautiful waterfall is one of the highest located in Cyprus and is surrounded by forest and it is most popular in summer, when it offers a cool and shady retreat from the powerful midday sun. The trail has a length of 3 km and can be divided into 2 parts, the higher one that leads to the waterfalls, and the lower one, from the waterfalls to Platres. The route might be difficult due to the sudden changes in gradient, but it is quite easy with decent shoes. The

route is suitable for adults in good fitness levels. Unsuitable for very young children. If you do not wish to take the long nature walk path there is an easy access by foot straight to the main waterfall (about 20 minutes walk) from Aedonion road, by the trout farm in Pano Platres. Soli was one of the ancient kingdoms of Cyprus and played an important part in the history of the island during the revolt against the Persians but later all the Cypriot cities were reduced by the pensions. It was destroyed by Arab invasions in the 7th century.

Selimiye Mosque Selimiye Mosque, formerly Cathédrale Sainte Sophie, ½ is a Mosque located in the Turkish-controlled northern hour part of the walled city of Nicosia. Buyuk Han Buyuk Han (the Great Inn) is considered to be one of 1 hour the finest buildings on the island. Located in North Nicosia, Northern Cyprus, it was built by the Ottomans in 1572, the year after they had seized Cyprus from the Venetians. In the centre of the open courtyard is a mosque with a fountain for pre-prayer ablutions. It became the first city prison under British administration but reverted in 1893 to a hostel for poor families.[1] After spending most of the 1990s being restored, the inn has been revived as a thriving arts centre, consisting of several galleries and workshops.
