Massachusetts Privateer Brigantine Lady Washington was commissioned on 20 July 1782 under Commander William White of Boston, Massachusetts. She was listed as being armed with six guns and as having a crew of fifteen men. Her $20000 bond was signed by White and by John Codman, Jr. and Samuel Dunn, Jr., both of Boston. 1

Lady Washington was re-commissioned on 16 January 1783 under Commander Naler 2 []Nailer 3 Hatch of Boston. Her battery and crew were unchanged. Her new $20000 bond was signed by Hatch and by Crowell Hatch and Thomas Lamb, both of Boston. 4

Lady Washington sailed from Boston to Virginia with a cargo of wine and ironmongery in January 1783. She was captured by the British tender Prince of Wales before 27 January 1783, and brought into New York, New York. She arrived at New York on 8 February 1783. 5 Lady Washington was tried in the Vice Admiralty Court and condemned. She is described in the court records as an American merchant vessel. 6
