FCA, PSA Groupe Merge and Become by Charles Herbst Automobiles, parent company of the brand and maker of the Jeep Cherokee in Jeep’s 2021 Cherokee made at the Belvidere Plant. Belvidere, has merged with PSA Groupe, a Eu- ropean holding company that includes , Citroen, and Vauxhall. The resulting company is named Stellantis, N.V., a Dutch company headquartered in Amsterdam. The combined company markets vehicles under 14 brands, which also include , Chrysler, Fiat, and . In terms of vehicles manufactured, Stellantis ranks third in the world behind Volkswagen and Toyota. The company has 400,000 employees, with a significant presence in Eu- rope and North and South America. The new CEO of the company, , was the chairman of PSA Groupe and had engineered a turnaround of that company. His tenure at PSA Groupe has been compared to the per- formance of Sergio Marchionne, who established and turned around Fiat Chrysler. is the Stellantis Chairman, representing the interests of the Angelli family, the largest Stellantis shareholder, with 14.4 percent. After Marchionne’s death in mid-2018, the search for a merger partner continued. FCA attempted to merge with French car company Renault and reached a tentative agreement. The French government did not support the agreement, so the deal did not go forward. Next, FCA reached out to PSA Groupe, a similarly sized company. Community News & Events Boone County Community Foundation Adds Two Scholarships: The Boone County Community Foundation (BCCF) is honored to announce two additional scholarship opportunities to graduating seniors. The Dave Graham Memorial Education Scholarship is a newly established scholarship. Dave Graham was a history teacher, librarian, and golf coach in District 100. As a lifelong learner and proponent of the value of education, Dave’s legacy is to help future educators fulfill their dreams. Any graduating senior from North Boone, Belvidere North, or Belvidere High Schools who is pursuing their de- gree in education may apply. Two scholarships of $2,500.00 will be awarded.
