Acting Principal: Ian Hastie Website: www.wadestown.school.nz Thursday 20th February 2020

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Well done to all students on a very positive start to the school year. I have been very impressed with student willingness to work alongside teachers in their classrooms; Playground interaction is positive and very active. There are many sports games being played in all areas of school and I have been impressed with how students interact with each other and in groups. Well done Wadestown students!!

Looking forward to seeing you all at the School Picnic tomorrow night between 5.30 – 7.30 pm. I have been told that this is a great occasion for staff and community to mix and of course, it is a special school picnic this year with it being Sally’s last. Thank you to the PTA for all the work you are doing for the picnic.

Sallybration Afternoon Tea for Ex-Students and Friends On Friday last week we kicked off our Sallybration events with an open afternoon where ex-students and friends of Wadestown School could visit the playground and classes. Some Wadestown School students were ambassadors for the school and hosted our guests. This was followed by a lovely afternoon tea and speeches by Sally Barrett and Nick Julian. There were approximately 200 visitors that afternoon. Thank you to the Sallybration organising team for the lovely food and excellent organisation of this event.

Wadestown Village Fair Just a reminder that our marvelous annual Village Fair hosted by the Wadestown Residents Association is coming up rapidly! This year, in the hope of getting fine weather, it has been moved forward to the last day of February Saturday 29th Feb 11am- 2pm!

As in the past it is held at Philip Myers Park right by Wadestown library from 11am-2pm. The library will be open throughout the day. There will be lots of great stalls and activities, food and drink outlets and fun for the whole family. If wet, the event will move to the local church halls.

As part of working with a nationwide Charity, The Wadestown Residents Association will have a purple locker on site at their stand in a central location at the Fair where locals can donate their good used second hand Sports gear. So do remember to bring along any unwanted sports gear you might have lying around the house or basement home as it will go to homes or organisations where it is much needed.
