Of the authors of the thirteen articles, two came from outside the United States (Belgium and Hong Kong/China). Subsidies allowed the date of publication to be moved up for one of the articles and allowed the authors in three cases to exceed the page limit. The book reviews were distributed among the following areas:general and miscellaneous (thirty-one), ancient (fifteen), medieval (seventy-three), early- modern (seventy-two), late-modern (forty-two), American (thirty-one), Latin American (thirteen), Canadian (one), Far Eastern/Australian (three), and African (one). The authors of the book reviews came from various countries: the United States of America (172 or 60 percent) and the United Kingdom (52 or 18 percent), with the remaining 22 percent from Canada (fourteen); Ireland (nine); Italy (eight); Germany,The Netherlands, and Peru (four each); Australia (three); Israel and Sweden (two); and one each from Belgium, Brazil, China, France, Greece, Mexico, Qatar, Spain, and Switzerland. As the tables below reveal, the editors dealt with eighty-one articles.Of the forty-one on hand from the previous years, fourteen were published in 2009, thirteen were accepted for publication, one was conditionally accepted, nine await a response from the authors, and four were rejected. Of the forty arti- cles received in 2009, one was published, three accepted, five conditionally accepted, eleven pending evaluations or responses, and twenty rejected. The editorial staff of the Review has seen some changes over the past year. In July the board of advisory editors was altered with the appointments of Liam M.
