The relevance of the investigated problem is caused by the growing importance of the religious factor in the socio-political and religious-cultural life of the global community and Russia in the XXI century. The purpose of this article is to identify and analyze trends in the development of Tatar religious activities such as Hajj during the XI - XXI centuries. The leading method of the study of this problem is a historical-comparative method: in retrospect the emergence of this institution and the existence under conditions of the different socio-economic formations have been analyzed; a particular emphasis is made on the post- Soviet period. A special attention is paid to the question of organization of the hajj: route construction and different programs, cost factors of trip tickets, etc. It is proved that the system of organization of doing Hajj in the Republic of Tatarstan as an obligatory ritual for every Muslim is now almost developed. In a short time (since the 1990s.) the stage of formation passed, competence centers are defined, and logistics are established, all the requirements of the Islamic religion, the Russian and international legislation are observed. Category of property Kazan Kremlin (Russian Federation) In terms of the categories of cultural property set out in Article 1 of the 1972 World Heritage Convention, this is a group of buildings. No 980 History and Description History The first human occupation in the Kazan area goes back to Identification the 7th and 8th millennia BCE; there are traces of the Bronze Age (2nd to 1st millennia, late Kazan area settlement), early Nomination Historical and Architectural Complex of Iron Age (8th to 6th centuries BCE, Ananin culture), and the Kazan Kremlin early medieval period (4th–5th centuries CE, Azelin culture). From the 10th to 13th centuries Kazan was a pre-Mongol Location Republic of Tatarstan, City of Kazan Bulgar town. Today’s Kremlin hill consisted then of a fortified trading settlement surrounded by moats, State Party Russian Federation embankments, and a stockade. A stone fortress was built in the 12th century and the town developed as an outpost on the Date 29 June 1999 northern border of Volga Bulgaria. The so-called Old Town extended eastward, on the site of the former Kazan Monastery of Our Lady. The fortress was demolished on the instructions of the Mongols in the 13th century. A citadel was then built as the seat of the Prince of Kazan, including the town’s administrative and religious institutions. It is caused inexhaustible by opportunities of ethnomusical heritage in formation of the personality, need of development in students of professionally significant ethnopsychological qualities, readiness for the solution of musical and educational tasks on the basis of the Tatar national culture. Disclosure of potential of the Tatar piano music in ethnocultural development of future music teachers became a research objective. On the basis of synthesis of experience of musical and performing training of future music teachers - students of Leo Tolstoy Institute of Philology and Intercultural Communication of Kazan Federal University, the performing analysis of the Tatar piano music, authors submit compositions in which found the brightest embodiment of tradition of the Tatar folk art. -

Kazan Kremlin in Russia Kazan Kremlin – a complex of several buildings in Kazan, Russia Kazan Kremlin is a complex of several buildings in Kazan, Russia, noted for their architectural and historical value. A kremlin is a citadel and the seat of government of the city, and consists of churches and towers, and a palace. The Kazan Kremlin was the citadel of Tatarstan, which is a federal subject of the Russian Federation. Constructed under the orders of Ivan the Terrible, and built among the remains of the Kazan Khanate. The white Kremlin features the Annunciation Cathedral, the only sixteenth-century Russian church to have 6 piers and 5 apses. Built from 1554 to 1562, the cathedral is made from pale sandstone. Its bell tower was modeled after Moscow's Ivan the Great Belltower but the Kazan bell tower was torn down by the Soviets in 1930. Another important building in the Kazan Kremlin is the Söyembikä Tower, also known as the Khan's Mosque. Once the tallest structure in the kremlin and a leaning tower, with a lean of 194 centimeters (76 inches), it was straightened in the 1930s and again in the 1990s. This tower was possibly built in the 17th or 18th century, though its origins are not well understood. A legend has it that the tower was named for a queen named Söyembikä who killed herself jumping from the top of the tower, but the legend is not rooted in facts. Spasskaya Tower on the southern end of the Kremlin serves as the main entrance to the Kremlin. -

The Crimean Tatar Question: A Prism for Changing Nationalisms and Rival Versions of Eurasianism* Andrew Wilson Abstract: This article discusses the ongoing debates about Crimean Tatar identity, and the ways in which the Crimean Tatar question has been crucial to processes of reshaping Ukrainian identity during and after the Euromaidan. The Crimean Tatar question, it is argued, is a key test in the struggle between civic and ethnic nationalism in the new Ukraine. The article also looks at the manner in which the proponents of different versions of “Eurasianism”—Russian, Volga Tatar, and Crimean Tatar—have approached the Crimean Tatar question, and how this affects the attitudes of all these ethnic groups to the Russian annexation of Crimea. Key words: Crimean Tatars, Euromaidan, Eurasianism, national identity, nationalism—civic and ethnic Introduction In the period either side of the Russian annexation of Crimea, the Crimean Tatar issue has become a lodestone for redefining the national identities of all the parties involved. The mainstream Crimean Tatar movement has been characterized by steadfast opposition first to the Yanukovych regime in Ukraine and then to Russian rule. This project, on the other hand, seeks to establish an alternative understanding of the ways in which nationality has played out both as a Russian tactic to unite disparate and diverse territories, and as a mode by which some ethnic minorities in Russian-ruled spaces have been able to secure relative autonomy. The Republic of Tatarstan, located in the Volga River basin, has achieved unprecedented levels of autonomy while existing as a contingent part of the USSR, and now the Russian Federation. Comparisons have been drawn between Tatarstan and Chechnya in regards to the political, economic, and cultural autonomy they exercise on their respective territories; however, while their autonomy may be comparable, their respective relationships with the Russian central governments are not. -

While the European Union aims to make its energies greener, Russia pursues power-goals based on its status as a geo-energy superpower. A successful “European Green Deal” would have the up-to-now underestimated geopolitical advantage of making the European Union less dependent on Russian hydrocarbons. In this article, we illustrate Russian power-politics and its geopolitical implications by analyzing the illustrative case of the North Caucasus, which has been traditionally a strategic region for Russia. The present article describes and analyses the impact of Russian intervention in the North Caucasian secessionist conflict since 1991 and its importance in terms of natural resources, especially hydrocarbons. The geopolitical power secured by Russia in the North Caucasian conflict has important implications for European Union’s energy supply security and could be regarded as a strong argument in favor of the “European Green Deal”. This article introduces the reader to the migrations that led to the formation of this group, and to the main cultural characteristics that determine the originality of the Eastern Udmurt. Their settling in the Bashkir lands took place due to the penetration of the Russian power in the Volga region, which happened in the sixteenth century through warfare that damaged the local population. They started to settle in more peaceful regions, and the migration was continued in the subsequent centuries, reaching the peak with the forceful Evangelisation of the eighteenth century. This culture is rich and original: it has retained many Udmurt features as the ethnic religion that is still alive, and has merged with Turkic features in several important aspects, such as language, costume, and music. This is the first part of a study that will continue with the observation of Eastern Udmurt organisations and the relation to their core territory, nowadays the Republic of Udmurtia.
