MSFA Press Guide 2020-21 Mid-States Football Association Press Guide & Record Book Table of Contents 2020-21 MSFA Schedule 3 The Mid-States Football Association, which 2019 MSFA Results 4 enters its 27th year as an NAIA-affiliated organization in 2019 All-MSFA Teams 5-6 the Midwest, will feature 14 teams in two leagues, with Roosevelt University awaiting its first year of competition Team Capsules 7-21 in 2021. Judson University and Madonna University have Mideast League Year-by-Year Standings 22-23 also been added as provisional members for the upcoming Midwest League Year-by-Year Standings 24-25 season. MSFA All-Time Composite Standings 26-27 MSFA Overtime Games 28-29 Lawrence Tech in Southfield, Mich. was added by the Association at its annual meeting in 2017, while Indiana Year-by-Year Team Statistical Leaders 30-38 Wesleyan was added in 2016. Indiana Wesleyan, located Year-by-Year Individual Statistical Leaders 39-47 in Marion, Ind., competed in football for the first time in All-Time NAIA Team Statistical Champions 48 2018, while LTU is returned to the gridiron after a 70-year All-Time NAIA Individual Statistical Champions 49-50 absence. MSFA in NAIA Postseason 51-55 Missouri Baptist University in St. Louis, Mo., MSFA Coaches of the Year 56 began MSFA play in 2015 as part of the Mideast League, AFCA Regional & NAIA Coaches of the Year 56 joining Concordia University of Ann Arbor, Mich.; Marian MSFA Coaches’ Records 57 University of Indianapolis, Ind.; the University of Saint MSFA Records vs. Non-conference opponents 58 Francis of Fort Wayne, Ind.; Siena Heights University of 2019 AFCA All-Americans 59 Adrian, Mich.; and Taylor University of Upland, Ind. The Spartans moved to the Midwest League beginning in 2019. All-Time NAIA Special Awards 59 All-Time AFCA/NAIA All-Americans 60-61 Along with Missouri Baptist, Chicago-based All-Time Mideast League Players of the Week 62-64 Roosevelt University and Saint Xavier University; the All-Time Midwest League Players of the Week 65-67 University of St. Francis of Joliet, Ill.; Olivet Nazarene MSFA Players of the Week (1994-1997) 68 University of Bourbonnais, Ill.; St. Ambrose University of Davenport, Iowa; and Trinity International University All-Time MSFA Players of the Week by Team 69-74 of Deerfield, Ill. will again make up the Midwest League. All-Time NAIA Players of the Week 75-76 Roosevelt takes the place of Robert Morris University in All-Time MSFA Players of the Year 77 2021, after the two universities merged at the start of the All-Time All-MSFA Team Selections 78-82 2020-21 academic year. All-Time MSFA All-Academic Team Selections 83-87 Each MSFA team plays the other teams within its All-Time NAIA Scholar Athletes 88-89 league plus crossover games against the other league. The All-Time CoSIDA Academic All-Americans 89 champions of the two leagues receive automatic berths into MSFA All-Time Statistical Performances 90-94 the NAIA Championship Series, if they are ranked among MSFA 20-Year Mideast & Midwest League Teams 95 the top 20 in the NAIA Coaches’ Poll. MSFA “Best of the Best” Honorees 96 The MSFA has claimed nine NAIA national MSFA Midwest League Records 97-103 championships, including six of the last nine: Saint Francis MSFA Mideast League Records 104-110 (Ind.) (2016 & 2017), Marian (2015 & 2012), Grand View MSFA Records 111-119 University (2013) and Saint Xavier (2011). The University of Findlay (1995 & 1997) and Westminster College (1994) also won national titles as members of the MSFA. The MSFA Chairman for 2020-2021 will be Lonnie Pries, Athletics Director, Concordia University. Mike McCaffrey, Athletics Director at Saint Francis (Ind.), is in his first season as the MSFA Commissioner; Greg Gorham is the MSFA Information Director; and Richard Edwards is the Coordinator of Officials.
