Last seen beating Momkin (Ire) (Bated Breath {GB}) in the Listed Sir Henry Cecil S. over this mile trip at Newmarket on July 11, the bay was reserved early by PJ McDonald and despite being stopped in his run passing the two- furlong marker regained momentum to reel in Turjomaan (War Front) inside the last 100 yards for a half-length success. AHe was the horse I was most looking forward to riding this week, but it was not a nice race to ride in at all,@ the in-form jockey said. AThe pace was very slow and in the middle part of the straight it got tight, but I was lucky I was travelling well and things have been falling right for me this week.@ Cont. p4 Battaash and Jim Crowley prior to the King George | racingfotos.com IN TDN AMERICA TODAY WHITNEY REMEMBERED AT HOF INDUCTION By Tom Frary On the eve of the running of the Grade I race that bears her name, Keeping it simple despite all the pressure before Friday=s the late Marylou Whitney was inducted into the American Racing G2 King George Qatar S., Jim Crowley steered Battaash (Ire) Hall of Fame Friday in her hometown of Saratoga Springs, New York.

News Release _________________________________________________________________________________________________________ FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Contact: Kevin Kerstein Publicity Manager Churchill Downs Racetrack (610) 420-6971 (mobile) (502) 635-4712 (office) [email protected] COX CLOSING IN ON 1,000 CAREER VICTORIES LOUISVILLE, Ky. (Friday, Nov. 15, 2018) – Arguably one of the nation’s fastest rising starts, Louisville native Brad Cox is two wins away from a major professional milestone: 1,000 career victories. Cox, 38, is not far removed from his time as an assistant to trainer Dallas Stewart and has quickly soared to the top of the leading trainers in the nation by recording 671 wins in less than four years, nearly 70 percent of his career win total. “I’m very happy with what our team has been able to accomplish recently,” Cox said. “Obviously there are some major races out there we still want to win. A Kentucky Derby would be nice.” Cox grew up less than two miles from the Churchill Downs backstretch and graduated from Iroquois High School. It didn’t take long for the lifelong Kentucky Wildcats fan to have his sights set on becoming a top trainer. “I remember going to the track with my dad ( Jerry ) when I was a kid,” said Cox, who is a father of three sons. “I always enjoyed horse racing and in high school was when I really decided I wanted to become a trainer. My dad liked coming to the track but I didn’t grow up on the backstretch like many trainers. I grew up friends with trainer Bobby Radcliffe ’s son ( Rob ) and we would come to the track as kids.” Cox began his career as a hot walker and soon elevated to Stewart’s assistant before starting his own stable in 2004.
