SUSAN MERMET (Assistant Director): I have Lola Fisher (long time actress of the stage & small screen and Theatre 40 member) to thank for introducing me to The- atre 40 some six years ago when she asked me at the end of a senior acting class we were in at the time at Roxbury Park, if anyone wanted to help with concessions at Theatre 40. That was before only members & their guests were requested to do it as it is now. It was during the run of The Bat. Later, I became a stage hand on The Bat, and went on to work as a stage hand helping Dorothy Sinclair with wardrobe on The Last Romance; the jazz hands peeking from behind the wall in Mrs. Mannerly; and the very mentioned Maude the maid in Perfect Timing – al- though never heard from and only seen during intermission setting the table for dinner, and again clearing the table in the second act along with the beloved & since passed Kori Beth – who also played a maid in it. My most seen duty, for many years now, has been tending the box office. I am very honored to have been asked by David Hunt Stafford, and such an esteemed director as Jules Aaron, for me to embark on this new adventure as assistant director on Mr. Pim. I look for- ward to working with such a great, fun, and hard working cast. IN MEMORIUM ruce Gray our beloved, esteemed and very gifted director of many of the best and most successful Theatre 40 productions has passed away, trag- icallyB and quite suddenly. Bruce Gray was a pillar of our organization and dedicated a great part of his life to Theatre 40 and to the excellence of our company and our productions. There will be no replacing Bruce Gray. We must remember him, we must strive to be like him, we must treasure the time we had with him because those valuable moments were the best that many of us had. He was a friend - a mentor - a beacon - a gift - a talent - al- ways giving - always caring - and a giant that we all looked up to and he was one of us. Theatre 40 benefited from his guidance, his involvement and his never ending concern for the excellence of our organization - he made all of us a little better. He was truly a great man and we were so fortunate to have him with us and so focused and dedicated to the excellence of Theatre 40.

September 7, 1936 - December 13, 2017 Below is the L.A. Time obituary that Bruce himself wrote. He will be missed. Most Canadians would know Bruce Gray as the Machiavellian star of the TV series (Gemini Award), but most Americans would recognize him as the hapless father of the groom in My Big Fat Greek Wedding. Although he began his acting career on stage in the '60s, he quickly moved into daytime dramas: contracted to Somerset, High Hopes and The Edge of Night in the '70s. A move to Hollywood in the '80s led to guest star roles on hundreds of TV shows, recurring on Murder She Wrote, Medium, Tour of Duty, Falling Skies and How I Met Your Mother. Bruce gained notoriety in the gay com- munity as Shickle The Pickle on Queer as Folk, then for football fans by play- ing a team owner on Playmakers for ESPN. He originated roles in several new plays as a member of The Circle Rep in NYC during the late '70s and has been a multiple award-winning resident director of Theatre 40 in Beverly Hills, 90210 since the '80s. The high point of his long theatrical career came in 1989 when he toured the USA and USSR in Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? Born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, he received an MA in Psychology from the University of Toronto. For the last 25 years Bruce has made his home in the Hollywood Hills. He is survived by his sister Judy, nephew Randy, niece Wendy and the rest of his family, friends, and Mike.
