ith the sun setting over the Summersalt Beach Club in Dubai, WDanielle Lloyd finally got her happily ever after when she married her partner of four years, Michael O’Neill. The couple exchanged vows on Saturday April 6 in an intimate beach ceremony in front of the iconic Burj Al Arab Jumeirah, which made a fitting backdrop for their lavish celebration. The wedding had been planned for over three years, but a house move and the birth of the couple’s son Ronnie, now one, kept the couple from saying ‘I do’ sooner. However, Danielle says it was everything she could have wished for. ‘It was better than I ever could have imagined,’ the 35 year old exclusively tells OK! following her big day. Danielle adds that she’s over the moon to be married to Michael, who she calls her ‘best friend’. Gushing over her new husband, electrician Michael, 31, Danielle tells

WWW.OK.CO.UK 5 us: ‘It feels like happy ever after for me as I’ve been through hard times.’ Her marriage to footballer Jamie O’Hara, which ended in 2014, gave her their sons Archie, eight, and Harry, seven, who were Michael’s adorable best men, and George, six, who was in charge of looking after the rings, which didn’t go exactly to plan! While Danielle and Michael originally planned to have just ten guests attend their big day, Danielle got carried away and, as her dress got bigger, so did her guest list! They ended up with 46 of their nearest and dearest present, and a budget that was most definitely blown, but she has no regrets. While sipping a glass of champagne on their honeymoon in the Maldives, Danielle tells OK! why marriage is different this time around and what has made her consider adoption…
Congratulations, Danielle! How does it feel to be Mrs O’Neill? Amazing! I’ve had wedding blues because it was so perfect – I’ve been bursting into tears every day! I was sobbing on the plane to our honeymoon in the Maldives because it was all over. We’ve planned it for so long and I wanted it to be the best day ever, and it was.
Did everything go to plan? Well I turned up before a few of the guests, so I had to wait for them to get ushered in. I’m used to waiting for my friends as they’re always late ‘IT FEELS LIKE HAPPY EVER AFTER FOR ME’
[laughs]! I just felt worried for Michael waiting in the heat! George had a little box that said ‘Special Agent George’ and he had the rings in there, but he left the box with the wedding rings in the car! It was probably my own fault for not keeping them until the last minute. Luckily I realised before the car drove off!
Why did you choose Dubai? We just love it there and when we saw the venue a year ago we knew that was it. It was their first wedding and we hired out the whole beach club!
Were the children well behaved? We had 16 children at the wedding. Before anyone was even eating, the kids were up dancing! Ronnie was naughty but he’s only a baby, and it’ll be funny to show him the photos when he’s older. All the other boys were brilliant. All of them did get in the sea in their suits, but boys will be boys! Archie read a poem about love and having a best friend forever, he did an amazing job. When we got married he got really upset and said: ‘I’m just so happy.’
Were you emotional? That made me cry! I was actually crying before I even left the room. I’ve been an emotional wreck the whole time! I didn’t mix my drinks, so I remember every single last detail. That was important to me – I didn’t want to make an idiot of myself [laughs].
You did a wedding speech, instead of Michael. Why was that? Michael is painfully shy so I had to do it! I began by saying: ‘I’ve got to do the speech because everyone knows who the boss is!’ Then the boys did a really cute speech about how much they loved us and how happy they were that Michael was their stepdad. Everything has fallen into place at the right time. It feels normal and we have trust – this relationship is so different to anything I’ve had before, it’s forever.
Would you like to have more children now? We need an extension first! By the end of this year we’ll start trying for a baby. I watched Instant Family on the plane and I said to Michael: ‘Shall we adopt a baby?’ I know if you can have your own it’s nice, but if you adopt you’re doing so much for that child. You’re giving them a life that they would never have had. I’d have about 20 kids – being a mum is what I was made to do. I’ve been away from the boys for one day and I miss them so much!
Are you still looking into gender selection for your next child as you’d like a daughter? I’ve gone overboard on the wedding, so we’ll have to see if there’s any money left in the pot

Once you know that you can plan when to do the deed so you conceive a girl. I don’t know if we’ll take the risk. I don’t regret talking about it because I still want a girl now, whether it’s naturally or by IVF. OK! You work closely with Kym Marsh – were you sad to hear she’s leaving? We haven’t worked together for a while, which has made us both sad. I’m upset to see her go but she’s doing the right thing – she’s very talented so I don’t think she’ll be short of work.

Tell us about your new role in the play The Thunder Girls, about an ‘80s girl group reuniting after 30 years… It starts in September and has an all- female cast and crew and all the characters are over 50. It’s so rare for strong, female roles to come up I couldn’t say no.

I was just so swept up in the magic of it all.
What did you steal from the set at the end of series eight? I liberated a corset from the set. My corset. I don’t know why, because it was so uncomfortable and I hated every second in it. But I think it’s the only thing that stayed with me throughout the years on Game Of Thrones. I also took a scroll, which is from one of the last episodes. That’s a spoiler, so I can’t say what that is.

INGREDIENTS SERVES ● 40g (1¼oz) butter ● 4 large leeks, peeled and cut into 2cm (¾in) slices ● 1 tbsp chopped sage ● Salt and freshly ground black pepper ● 250g tub ricotta ● 2 eggs, beaten, plus extra to glaze (optional) ● 2 tsp chilli, deseeded and chopped, or chilli flakes ● 2 tbsp parsley or chives, chopped ● Zest of 1 lemon ● 320g ready rolled sheet of puff pastry ● 2 tbsp pine nuts ● 30g (1oz) Parmesan, grated, plus some shavings ● Green salad, to serve
he problem with traditional pies is there’s just too much pastry – on the top and on the bottom – leaving little room for anything else and making them a Treally heavy dish. This is my way of cutting back on the pastry and upping the veg. It makes a lovely starter or lunch dish.
1. Preheat the oven to 200ºC (400ºF/gas mark 6) and place a large baking sheet in the oven to warm up. 2. Heat the butter in a frying pan and add the leeks. Cook over a medium heat for about 5 minutes, until they are soft and taking on a little colour, then add the sage and cook for another minute. Season well with salt and pepper and leave to cool slightly. 3. Mix the ricotta and eggs together then stir in the chilli, parsley, and lemon zest and season with salt and pepper. 4. Carefully lay the puff pastry sheet on the hot baking sheet and use a knife to make a 1cm (½in) border around the edge, taking care not to cut all the way through. With a fork, prick the pastry inside the border, making sure it has a good covering of fork marks. 5. Spread the ricotta mixture over the pastry, keeping the border clear, then spread over the leeks and finally scatter over the pine nuts and Parmesan. If you wish, brush the pastry border with a little beaten egg to give it a nice golden colour and shine. 6. Bake on a high shelf in the oven for 20 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown. Top with a few more Parmesan shavings and serve with a green salad. FLEX THE FLAVOURS Top the pie with 100g (3½oz) blanched asparagus to add an additional layer of flavour. 94 SWEET POTATO WITH ROCKET AND BLUE CHEESE SERVES
INGREDIENTS ● 1.25kg (2¾lb) sweet potatoes, cut into wedges ● 2 tbsp olive oil ● ½ tsp chilli flakes ● 2 garlic cloves, sliced ● salt and ground black pepper ● 50g (1¾oz) rocket leaves or baby spinach ● 8 sage leaves ● 30g (1oz) pecans or 25 pine nuts ● 150g (5½oz) Gorgonzola or other soft blue cheese

Pop the tray back in the oven for another 5 minutes, until the cheese has melted, then take it out and serve the sweet potatoes as a side dish or light lunch or supper. LOVE YOUR LEFTOVERS If there is a little left over it is delicious served cold in a green salad.
