Dabei wird im Einzelnen untersucht, ob die Inszenierung das Bild der starken Frau unterstützt oder teilweise schwächt. Hauptsächlich richtet sich die Aufmerksamkeit auf die Beispielserie Alias - Die Agentin. Diese wird daraufhin in manchen Betrachtungen mit anderen US-amerikanischen Serien aus den Bereichen Action, Mystery und Science Fiction verglichen. Abschließend wird eine Analyse zu einigen Episoden der Beispielserie durchgeführt. Einleitung „I think that the audience has always embraced a strong female lead.“1 Genauso wie das Jennifer Garner als Schauspielerin von Sydney Bristow in diesem Zitat sieht, werden starke2 Frauen als leitende Figuren in der Serienwelt mehr und mehr akzeptiert und inszeniert. Das Frauenbild hat im Allgemeinen starke Veränderungen hinter sich. Es kommen immer neue Rollenbilder und Wege der Inszenierung hinzu, sodass ein ständiger Wechsel stattfindet. Die vorliegende Arbeit beschränkt sich bewusst auf US-amerikanische Serien, da diese zusätzlich besonders prägend für Formate in anderen Ländern sind. Außerdem wird speziell bei Serien eine starke Bindung zum Rezipienten hergestellt, sodass dementsprechend mehr Einfluss auf den Zuschauer ausgeübt werden kann. Zusätzlich durchlaufen die Charaktere während der Serie eine Entwicklung, genauso wie die Figuren und die Inszenierung. Serien sind schnelllebige Formate und können so leichter auf neue Entwicklungen zurückgreifen. Besonders der Actionbereich zeichnet sich durch eine gewisse Aktualität in seiner Handlung aus, sodass die Verfasserin dieser Arbeit hier ein dementsprechend aktuelles Frauenbild vermutet. Allerdings zählte der Actionbereich, genau wie der Mystery- und Science-Fiction- Bereich lange Zeit als Männergenres3. Aus diesem Grund wird die vorliegende Arbeit sich insbesondere mit Serien aus diesen Genres beschäftigen. Es wird die Vermutung aufgestellt, dass sich die starken Frauen durch neue eine Inszenierung inzwischen den männlichen Serienhelden ebenbürtig zeigen und dadurch eine Änderung der Frauenbilder in diesen Genres stattfindet. Überwiegend wird in dieser Arbeit Bezug auf die Beispielserie Alias (Alias - Die Agentin) genommen, da es sich hier um eine Actionserie mit der alleinigen Heldin Sydney Bristow handelt. Diese Heldin tritt als starke Frau auf, nimmt aber auch andere Frauenbilder, besonders mit Hilfe von Maskeraden, an. Zusätzlich arbeitet sie vorwiegend mit Männern zusammen, wodurch eine Minderung der Stärke eintreten könnte. Speziell verkörpert sie sowie

Political ad- vertisements constitute a basic form of campaigning, subjected to various social requirements. We present the first publicly open dataset for detecting specific text chunks and categories of political advertising in the Polish language. It contains 1,705 human-annotated tweets tagged with nine categories, which constitute campaigning under Polish electoral law. We achieved a 0.65 inter-annotator agreement (Cohen’s kappa score). An additional annotator resolved the mismatches between the first two annotators improving the consistency and complexity of the annotation process. We used the newly created dataset to train a well established neural tagger (achieving a 70% percent points F1 score). We also present a possible direction of use cases for such datasets and models with an initial analysis of the Polish 2020 Presidential Elections on Twitter. 1 Introduction The emergence of social media has changed how political campaigns take place around the world (Kear- ney, 2013). Political actors (parties, action committees, candidates) utilize social media platforms, Twit- ter, Facebook, or Instagram, to communicate with and engage voters (Skogerbø and Krumsvik, 2015).     Commencement Commencement SPRING 2015 112th Ceremony University of Florida President Dr. W. Kent Fuchs Dr. W. Kent Fuchs became the University of Florida’s 12th president in January 2015. Most recently the provost of Cornell University, Dr. Fuchs’ experience combines academic leadership as a provost, dean and department chair; a distinguished career as an engineering professor; and graduate education in both engineering and divinity. In accepting the presidency, Dr. Fuchs outlined his overarching goal for UF: to elevate its stature, as measured by quality and comparative excellence, to that of one of the nation’s best public universities.     GENDER UNDER TORTURE: HOW GENDER SHAPES AND IS SHAPED BY TORTURE by MARITA GRONNVOLL (Under the Direction of Celeste M. Condit) ABSTRACT This dissertation is an examination of media discourses pertaining to torture as an interrogation method in the “war on terrorism.” The major focus is the circular relationship between gender and torture. The project scrutinizes the ways that gender norms have influenced perceptions of torture and torture has influenced what are believed to be acceptable gender behaviors. Through an analysis of both news media and popular entertainment television programs, this dissertation explores the implications for linking gender and torture when these concepts are taken up and disseminated through mass media. With the “enemy” in the war on terrorism being described in media and social discourses as demonically brutal, a cultural longing is revealed for a warrior hero who can effectively protect “us” from “them.” This new hero is distinctly masculine, remorseful when forced to perform actions that cross the line into torture, but, at the same time, unrepentant. As one who fights for the side of good (Judeo- Christianity) against evil (Islam), this new hero is an archetypal messiah. The creation of this new hero in the shape of a messiah effectively guarantees that that shape will not be female. The culturally perceived defectiveness of women physically, morally, and mentally means that they could never rise to the level of messianic saviors. A messianic hero would necessarily recall the image of Christ, thus requiring this hero to be male. A masculine, messianic hero is portrayed as being in a position to use torture effectively to save the world, but discourses circulating in mass media suggest that this is something women, no matter how professional and well trained, are incapable of.
