With qualification already assured, Borussia Dortmund will look to tie up first place in Group F when they host Legia Warszawa on matchday five. • Dortmund hold a two-point advantage over Real Madrid CF at the top of the standings and with a victory would secure first place provided Madrid fail to win at Sporting CP in the section's other fixture. • Legia will be consigned to bottom place in the group if they fail to defeat Dortmund and Sporting are victorious against Madrid. Previous meetings • Prior to this season the clubs had met only in a friendly in Warsaw on 29 July 2012, which Dortmund won 1-0 through a fourth-minute Robert Lewandowski goal. • The line-ups were: Legia: Kuciak (Skaba 61), Rzeźniczak, Żewłakow (Jędrzejczyk 46), Wawrzyniak, Suler (Astiz 46), Gol (Radović 46), Łukasik (Vrdoljak 46), Furman (Kopczyński 67), Żyro (Żurek 78), Kosecki (Kucharczyk 46), Saganowski (Ljuboja 46). Dortmund: Weidenfeller, Piszczek (Bender 46), Santana (Bittencourt 46), Hummels (Subotić 46), Löwe (Schmelzer 46), Kehl (Kirch 46), Gündoğan (Günter 46), Błaszczykowski (Perišić 46), Grosskreutz (Amini 46), Reus (Leitner 46), Lewandowski (Schieber 46). Match background Dortmund • 's team inflicted a 6-0 defeat on Legia when the clubs met in Warsaw on matchday one – their opponents' heaviest European loss. • Since the beginning of last season Dortmund have lost just one of ten home games (W7 D2) in UEFA competition, including a 1-0 win against Sporting last time out. • Dortmund's only previous home meeting with a Polish club came during their triumphant 1996/97 UEFA Champions League campaign when they beat RTS Widzew Łódź 2-1 in the group stage through two Heiko Herrlich goals. Legia • Besnik Hasi was the coach in charge of Legia for their 6-0 defeat by Dortmund on 14 September. Hasi lost his job five days later and by 24 September, Jacek Magiera had taken the reins in his place. • The Polish title holders earned their first point in Group F when drawing 3-3 at home against Real Madrid on matchday four. • Legia are still seeking a first victory in the UEFA Champions League since their last appearance in the group stage in 1995/96. That last win was against Blackburn Rovers FC (1-0) on 18 October 1995. • Although Legia were unbeaten away from home in the qualifying rounds this season, in the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League proper, they are on a seven-match losing streak on their travels. • They have never beaten German opposition in nine previous attempts (D3 L6). Coach and player links • Visiting coach Magiera was a substitute when Legia last visited Germany for a 0-0 draw at FC Schalke 04 in the 2002/03 UEFA Cup second round. He had previously appeared as an 87th-minute substitute in Legia's 3-2 first-leg defeat. • Łukasz Piszczek won the Polish league title with Zagłębie Lubin in 2006/07 thanks to a 2-1 last-day win at Legia. He faced Legia four times overall with Zagłębie (W2 L2). • Adam Hloušek had spells in Germany with 1. FC Kaiserslautern (2011), 1. FC Nürnberg (2012–14) and VfB Stuttgart (2014–2016). His record against Dortmund is W0 D2 L3. • Mikhail Aleksandrov spent three years in Dortmund's youth and reserve ranks (2007–2010), making five league appearances for their second team. • Mario Götze and substitute André Schürrle were in the Germany side held 0-0 by the Poland of Michał Pazdan, substitute Tomasz Jodłowiec and their Dortmund team-mate Piszczek in the UEFA EURO 2016 group stage. • Götze had scored twice when Germany beat Poland 3-1 in a EURO qualifier in Frankfurt in September 2015. • Kasper Hämäläinen was in the Finland side beaten 2-0 by Götze and Julian Weigl's Germany in a friendly on 31 August this year. • Roman Bürki made his Switzerland debut in November 2014 in a 2-2 draw against a Poland side featuring Michał

7 Borussia Dortmund - Legia Warszawa Tuesday 22 November 2016 - 20.45CET (20.45 local time) Match press kit BVB Stadion Dortmund, Dortmund Head coach Thomas Tuchel Date of birth: 29 August 1973 Nationality: German Playing career: FC Augsburg U19s, Stuttgarter Kickers, SSV Ulm 1846 Coaching career: VfB Stuttgart (youth coach and U19s assistant coach), FC Augsburg (U19s, academy coordinator and reserves), 1. FSV Mainz 05 (U19s and first-team head coach), Borussia Dortmund • Tuchel had a fairly undistinguished playing career, retiring prematurely in 1998 due to injury. • His first off-pitch role was with the Stuttgart youth team. He subsequently joined Augsburg, where he coached the U19s and reserve sides as well as serving as academy coordinator. • Tuchel moved to Mainz in 2008 and was initially in charge of the U19s, whom he led to a German title. A year after joining the club, Tuchel succeeded Jørn Andersen as coach of the senior team. He went on to qualify twice for the UEFA Europa League, though Mainz were eliminated at the third qualifying round stage on both occasions. • He took over from Jürgen Klopp in the Dortmund dugout prior to the 2015/16 campaign and led his side to the UEFA Europa League quarter-finals, where they came up against Klopp's Liverpool team – and lost 5-4 on aggregate. • Dortmund fared well under Tuchel in the Bundesliga in 2015/16, racking up 78 points to finish second behind Bayern München and qualify automatically for the 2016/17 UEFA Champions League group stage. They were also beaten by Bayern in the German Cup final in Tuchel's debut season.

Jacek Magiera Date of birth: 1 January 1977 Nationality: Polish Playing career: Raków Częstochowa, Legia Warszawa, Widzew Łódź (loan), Raków Częstochowa (loan), Cracovia Coaching career: Poland Under-18 (assistant), Legia Warszawa (assistant), Zagłębie Sosnowiec • A defensive midfielder, Magiera started his career with home-town side Raków Częstochowa, and was a member of the Poland side that won the UEFA European Under-16 Championship in Turkey in 1993. • Moved on to Legia, aged 20, in 1997, and spent the bulk of his playing career in Warsaw, scoring 16 goals in 176 Ekstraklasa appearances for the club and winning two Polish titles, as well as one Polish Cup. • Started his coaching career as an assistant with the national U18 team before rejoining Legia, where he was assistant to a number of coaches as well as boss of the club's reserve team. • Briefly worked as coach of Zagłębie Sosnowiec; appointed to coach Legia in September 2016 following the departure of Besnik Hasi. • As an aside from his football career, Magiera studied history, gaining a masters degree; his thesis was on the historical roots of football club badges.
