The Diversity, Equity & Inclusion calendar of events and holidays includes state-wide legal holidays, most well-known events and religious celebrations. All holidays falling on Sunday must be observed on Monday, under state law. Saturday holidays are observed on Saturdays. Below are descriptions of the celebrations included in this calendar.

Heritage Month Celebrations * These are month-long observances and recurrent months that are used by the government, groups, and organizations to raise awareness of an issue, commemorate a group or event, or celebration.

Federal Holidays * Federal holidays are dates that have been recognized by the US government.

State Holidays * The federal holidays labeled MA State Holidays are observed in Massachusetts as legal holidays. Non-essential offices are closed on these dates.

Religious Holidays and Ethnic Celebrations * This calendar includes the most widely celebrated religious holidays in the state of Massachusetts. This list does not include all religious holidays observed by every faith. For information on other religious holidays observed by members of religions represented in your region, please see http://www.interfaithcalendar.org/ or contact your local clergy.

*Please note that not every heritage month, religious holiday or ethnic celebration was incorporated in this calendar
