NFL Draft 2019 Grades: Evaluating the Broncos and Every Other Team’S Picks by Ryan O’Halloran Denver Post April 29, 2019
NFL draft 2019 grades: Evaluating the Broncos and every other team’s picks By Ryan O’Halloran Denver Post April 29, 2019 A team-by-team recap of this weekend’s NFL draft: NFC Arizona Cardinals A — The Cardinals selected immediate starters/contributors with their first five picks: QB Kyler Murray, CB Byron Murphy, WR Andy Isabella, DE Zach Allen and WR Hakeem Butler. With play-caller/coach Kliff Kingsbury, the Cardinals may not be successful, but they’ll be interesting. Atlanta Falcons C-plus — The Falcons ignored cornerback until round 5 (Jordan Miller). First-rounders Chris Lindstrom (No. 14) and Kaleb McGary (No. 31 after a trade-up) will start at right guard and right tackle, respectively. Carolina Panthers B — Liked what the Panthers did early. DE Brian Burns will team with veteran Bruce Irvin to replace Julius Peppers. LT Greg Little will get a chance to beat out 2017 second-round pick Taylor Moton and QB Will Grier could stop the revolving back-up spot. Chicago Bears D — If you factor in the Khalil Mack trade (which costs them a first-round pick), the grade would be different. But the Bears had only five picks (one in the first 125). RB David Montgomery (round 3) will back up Mike Davis. Dallas Cowboys C — No first-round pick because of the Amari Cooper trade. The Cowboys had nine picks, but only two in the top 116. They chose two defensive ends (Joe Jackson and Jalen Jelks) and running backs (Tony Pollard and Mike Weber) apiece. Detroit Lions C-minus— Tough to be fired up about anything the Lions did after tight end T.J. -
Analysis of the Image Restoration Strategies of High Profile College Athletes
16 — The Elon Journal of Undergraduate Research in Communications • Vol. 4, No. 2 • Fall 2013 Pay for Play: Analysis of the Image Restoration Strategies of High Profile College Athletes Jacob H. Selzer* Strategic Communications Elon University Abstract This study sought to explore the college athletic landscape through a Crisis Communications per- spective. Using William Benoit’s “Theory of Image Restoration” as a framework, this study employed a case-study approach to analyze the image restoration strategies of three high profile college football players following scandals. The study found a consistent use of traditional strategies such as mortification, corrective action, and denial from the athletes and associated parties. This research demonstrates the level of promi- nence that college athletes have been elevated to and concludes they be recognized from a public relations standpoint accordingly. Given the national attention and loyalty that college athletics receive, this study would provide an important foundation for future research on a rapidly evolving section of society as well. I. Introduction College athletics have been engrained in American culture for nearly as long as the institutions of higher learning themselves. These programs are more than just participatory sports for students, they are a unique aspect of American society. Zealous fan devotion has elevated college athletics to a level of promi- nence that is largely unparalleled in the world of American sports. With a devoted fan base and a national spotlight, college -

DEUBERT1, GLENN M. WONG2, AND DANIEL HATMAN3 I. INTRODUCTION One of the most desirable jobs in all of sports is undoubtedly that of General Manager (GM). A GM is generally responsible for the overall control and direction of the organization, including, perhaps most importantly, the success of the team on the field, court or rink. Perhaps the keen interest in being a GM is best ex- emplified through fantasy sports. Sports exposed allegations surrounding the University of Miami athletic program3, placing it amongst schools such as Oregon, Southern California (“USC”), Auburn, Ohio State, Michigan, Connecticut, North Carolina (“UNC”), Louisiana State (“LSU”), Tennessee, Georgia Tech, and others.4 A primary issue in these scandals has been the NCAA’s lack of authority to control or discipline third-parties,5 namely boosters, 7-on-7 mentors, and “street agents.”6 Thus, the NCAA can govern its member institutions, high school associations govern its players and coaches, 1 Michael Marot, Tumultuous 1st year has tested NCAA's Emmert, Associated Press, Oct. -
Press Release
PRESS RELEASE For Immediate Release January 22, 2021 Washington Football Team Names Marty Hurney Executive Vice President of Football/Player Personnel LOUDOUN COUNTY, Va. – The Washington Football Team announced today that they have named Marty Hurney Executive Vice President of Football/Player Personnel. Hurney will report directly to Head Coach Ron Rivera. Hurney joins Washington with 28 seasons of NFL experience as an executive and will rejoin the franchise where he started his NFL career as a member of the team’s public relations department. “Marty Hurney is an excellent evaluator of talent and someone whom I trust and have worked with in the past,” said Head Coach Ron Rivera. “He knows the amount of hard work it takes to operate a successful personnel department. Marty has a proven track record as a successful scout and general manager and will be a vital part of shaping our roster. Both myself and Mr. Snyder agreed that he would bring an enormous amount of experience to our operation. It is also fitting that Marty started his career here working for the legendary Bobby Beathard. I look forward to collaborating with both Marty and Martin in the years to come.” Hurney was named the Carolina Panthers General Manager in 2002 and held the position until 2012. He was then brought back as the club’s interim general manager in 2017 and maintained the official role from 2018- 2020. During Hurney’s tenure as general manager, the Panthers appeared in the postseason four times, with two NFC South titles, two trips to the NFC Championship game and an appearance in Super Bowl XXXVIII. -

Jennifer King Wurde Erste Schwarze Full-Time Assistant
Rivera, zweimaliger NFL Coach of the Year, führte Washington in seinem ersten Jahr in der NFC East zum Titel. -
