A total of 1,200 kilometres of bike routes and 1,400 kilometres of hiking trails including summit routes, alpine hikes and theme trails are waiting to be discovered by our guests in Zillertal. On exciting nature trails, visitors can experience the natural Zillertal environment and its plentiful water consciously and with all their senses. Or they can follow the glacier water along an idyllic waterfall path and see how it makes its way through the mountains and down into the valley. The fine, electrically charged particles spraying through the air at all of the 15 waterfalls are a thrilling wonder of nature. You can experience a more peaceful aspect of the water in Zillertal on an easy walk to the picturesque Latschensee lake, on a Bike & Hike tour at the Stillup reservoir or at the Hintertux Glacier. Here, in the Natur Eis Palast (natural ice palace), you can marvel at water in its frozen state all year long. To top this off, you can choose a unique activity from the programs offered by over 20 providers – adventures on land, in the water or in the sky. Whether its paragliding, high rope courses or wild water rafting on the river, adventure seekers can appreciate Zillertal from a totally new perspective.

Enjoy an escape

Whatever you choose: No excursion without food and drink! A total of 150 lodges, huts and mountain guesthouses offer Zillertal specialties to satisfy all appetites. Many of the farmhouses and guesthouses were built directly by the water and have their own spring. Enjoy a snack accompanied by a traditional, cool Zillertal beer brewed from crystal clear spring water, just as it was 500 years ago, and toast to each other’s good health (“Prost und G’sundheit”) in keeping with Tyrolean tradition. Turn your back on hectic daily routine and go fishing at Bochra Lake. This is a large fishpond brimming with rainbow trout, char and carp – and you don’t need a permit. It’s easy to borrow the equipment and just try your luck. “Petri Heil“ (“Tight lines”) in Zillertal!

Things to know about Zillertal

Location: Zillertal, a top destination in the heart of the , is located in the Austrian state of . The region is one of ’s leading holiday destinations. The wide, sunny valley extends over 47 km with only a slight gradient. Surrounded by numerous three-thousand-metre peaks, the total area of Zillertal is 1,098 km², of which over 40 percent comprises the high mountain nature park. It is named after the Ziller River, which flows out of the valley to join the .

Hotels: Let go, switch off and recharge: Our hotels have an integrated concept – always relating to the region and with the chief aim of pampering their guests. Approximately 50,000 hotel beds are available in Zillertal and over 15,000 of them can boast 4 to 5-star quality. There are no hotel chains here – our hotels are all owner-operated and are often family businesses.

Infrastructure: Zillertal has over 35,000 inhabitants living in 25 communities.
