HIGHLIGHTS OF THE SPRING

LACROSSE – VARSITY  Overall Record: 4-12  Played a competitive schedule including 3 top 10 teams, and 2 top 20 teams.  Twenty players in the program scored goals at the varsity level.  Biggest Win: Ended season with a strong win over DePaul. Execution of plays in second half was evident of team improvement throughout the year.  Freshmen goalies started on all three levels. Goaltending will be a strength in years to come.  Grace Cichanski was recognized as an All-Sectional Player by the Girls Lacrosse Coaches Association.  Murphy Killion, Karsen Jummati, and Grace Cichanski were recognized as GCAC All-Conference Players.

LACROSSE – JUNIOR VARSITY  Overall Record: 8-6  A few of the losses were very close competitive games. The JV players are ready to step in next year at the varsity level.  Goals were scored by 14 different players.  The team prided itself on strong individual defensive play.  All players improved throughout the season.

LACROSSE – FRESHMEN  Overall Record: 5-4-1  Teams four losses were by less than 10 goals combined. This shows the competiveness of the freshmen team.  Players developed at a faster pace than previous years. Learning the rules to the game and how to throw and catch quickly.  The girls played hard, many games the team only had one or two subs, forcing girls to play the entire game.  The coaching staff is extremely proud of the freshmen team. The girls are ready for JV competition next year. Please remember to go out and play catch three times a week in the offseason.

SOCCER – VARSITY  GCAC Record: 0-9-1 Overall Record: 1-13-1  Team worked and played hard. Never quit.  Kellie Forrestal and Kendall Rieman played every minute of every game.  The team bonded and formed lasting friendships.  There were no goalkeepers on the team. In true team first fashion, three girls stepped up and took turns handling the goalkeeping duties.  The Illinois High School Soccer Coaches Association (IHSSCA) awarded two players from the team. Kellie Forrestal was an “All Sectional Player” and Kendall Rieman was “All Sectional Honorable Mention.”  The girls showed improvement in all areas of the game and gave 100% effort, even in games where the team had only one substitute.  The coaches are proud of all the players. It was a joy to coach this team.

SOFTBALL – VARSITY  Overall Record: 11-14  Key wins: Ignatius, Regina, Palatine, New Trier, Trinity, and Fenwick.  Key Stats: Grace Gumiela (pitcher, outfield) led the team in batting average, runs batted in, doubles, and wins. Sydney Janus (center field) led the team in runs scored and triples. Payton Marcus led the team in on base percentage and home runs.  Grace Gumiela and Sydney Janus earned GCAC All-Conference Honors.

SOFTBALL – JUNIOR VARSITY  GCAC Record: 7-7 Overall Record: 11-11  Opening Day: A double play in last inning preserved the win vs. Niles West.  Best Comeback: Eight inning come from behind win at Romeoville.  Best Memory: Winning the last game of the season against Loyola with a tag out at home, securing a .500 record for the team.  Every player worked hard in practice and showed steady improvement.

TRACK AND FIELD  Team was led by Captains Rachael Lally and Grace Sondermann.  Biggest Win: Defeating Regina at home.  Team finished second in the GCAC White Division.  Top Team Finishes: Two 1st place finishes at Lake Forest Academy. Two 2nd place finishes at St. Ignatius, and a 3rd place finish at the Montini Invite  All 28 athletes scored team points in multiple meets.  Twelve girls were GCAC All Conference: Nina Boyd, Fiona Borders, Rita Chandler, Hannah De Cicco, Veronica Dworak, Maeve Hogan, Emma Kantor, Olivia Komosa, Rachael Lally, Maria Maier, Caleigh Ryle, Grace Sondermann.  Veronica Dworak qualified for the State meet in the 3200M run and took 16th Place in State.

WATER POLO  Young team with 7 new players, including 6 freshmen.  Senior Sydney Danner led the team in goals.  Senior Caroline Murray joined the team for the first time and played a key role defensively.  Best Memory: Hosting an IHSA playoff game vs. Taft.  The team played an aggressive schedule with state ranked teams including St. Ignatius, Loyola, and Mother McAuley.

GCAC/MCAC ALL-CONFERENCE ACADEMIC AWARD RECIPIENTS The recipients of this award are upperclassmen who have maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher at the Varsity level of competition.
